Okay, so I'm home from the job fair.  I don't have a job.  That was the most frightening and overwhelming thing I've ever done.  I'm still trying really hard to take it all in.  Because of how scared I was, I only took on like...four interviews.  I was in one school's top three...but dismissed hours later with a typed, fill in the name slip of ( Read more... )

For what it's worth, if your school was such an oddity, you don't know that you really hate teaching. Student teaching isn't the same thing. :)

If you have to, work at a place that doesn't require a degree for some time. I know $8 an hour (for example - but I'll bet you could do better) isn't a lot, but with you and Alex working together, it should be sufficient to get a little house or apartment, no problem. Wait until more job fairs come around or until you feel comfortable and safe enough, and then start pursuing other lines of work.

Even if your dream job comes around just a month from now, what stops you from getting a temporary one now in... a bookstore? In a library? As a cashier in Home Depot? (They make like $9 an hour, then $11 after three months - it's great! =o ) In a pet store? It's not exactly posh, but it'll help you righten yourself.

I need to, that's true. But the problem is...I don't think I can physically handle a second job right now despite how badly we need the money. Ginny knows how it goes. I usually even have to rest when I come home from my first one.
