we'd all be heard, we'd all feel seen

In the past little while, my English class has been studying The Handmaid's Tale. It hasn't been terrible amazing because there are roughly three people in the class who are actually willing to discuss it, but that's not actually the point.

One of the first things we did was discuss what would make a utopia, and though I have some major issues with suspending my disbelief and discussing it the way she wanted, talking to secrethitmen about it made me think about what the closest thing to a utopia would be for me.

It'd probably be some sort of hippie-like commune, where there was just music all the time, and people are free to come and go as they like, and there are lots and lots of books. And we'd grow our own fruit and vegetables and have chocolate cake for breakfast too often.

What are YOUR utopias? Suspending disbelief, of course. Just the most ideal world you could iamgine, whether you'd first eliminate prejudice and racism, or whether you'd design a world with a million Mikeyways and talking unicorns.

books, music, rambling
