Hm, you know, it's just got to be a local phrase to the part of NC I grew up in, or something. I've been asked by people about what it means a couple of times now, but heard it used often enough by various types of people in Raleigh. -Too bad I couldn't find an internet source for you though. -_-'

Anyway, it's a phrase used when someone stays with someone else in a bit of a parasitic manner. I think it has more to do with the slang "sugar daddy" than a actual maple-making sugar shack. Although maybe the term was chosen partially due to the hospitality of real sugar shacks...

Oh, what bad luck on my part! I'm trying to get to Charlotte on that same Friday. It sucks that Winston Salem is about an hour north of where I'm trying to get to. That, and I won't get to see my sister. -_-
