Yay comic! I left a comment. :)

Is Small Hope disturbed by the kind of clothes the parishioners are gadding about in, or was he just so excited to be doing something as normal as going to church that he didn't notice?

I sawwww! I love it!

I think he got his disturbs out vis a vis clothing a little earlier, as he's been flying around exploring his little town as it is now. THOUGH, now that it's on the table, I would say that for the most part, he isn't terribly bothered by most of what he sees -- he's used to being told that what is really wrong with fashion is the obsession with wearing things above your station, or of too fine a fabric, or with too many ridiculous ruffles etc. On first glance at the people he's now with, he sees a rather simple style, which is great! And then, of course, he notices that women are in pants and heels and people are in ridiculous short-sleeved shirts (don't they get sun-burnt?) and that skirts are a little scandalous.

But he is very excited to be participating in something a bit more normal!! Even if it isn't quite up to par with expectation.

That makes sense. He's probably all "No one is wearing lace! Or velvet! Or gold! Or doing that thing where you slit your sleeves and tug your silk shirt through! (That may have been earlier in fashion history.) PRAISE BE THE LORD!" - and the fact that they're not wearing too much of anything else either is sort of an afterthought.
