getting ready for fanex now. It means fixing a few things on an old costume since I'll only be going on saturday. Still haven't heard back from photo people yet for times. Nicole said she's bringing her camera tho so at least we'll be covered for a few shots. Mel and I agreed to a cosplay interview thing with the people from the space channel so ( Read more... )

Hope the interview goes well. :-) (Did my brother get back to you about the photo? Forgot to ask him afterwards.) Is the documentary supposed to be specifically about cosplay or about cons in general?

From what I’ve seen, I have the impression that FanExpo is pretty comparable to the Comic Con we have in NY with the main focus on the dealer’s room and guests. It wouldn’t be the kind of thing I’d bother to spend much money on either.

Yeah, finding a costume you actually want to make and can commute in can be tough. I need more of those, too, since it seems like more little local things are popping up these days. A con did a cosplay day at the local Japanese bookstore over the weekend and I ended up wearing one of my Ds since I could take the coat off and look relatively normal if I needed to ride the subway.

I'm just hoping we don't look like giant dorks in the interview. I don't want to seem totally crazy or some kind of geek just because I wear a costume out in public for apparently no good reason.

Yeah theres not much to do at fanex unless you're volunteering for stuff or cosplaying. Honestly cosplaying is the only reason I go to cons now, just to see other cosplayers and catch up with people.

I saw you in yugis video on youtube! You were standing around with a bunch of other cosplayers and holding Q-chan. It was so cute to see D in a bookstore. ^^

I'm hoping my KKM costume will be done by Xmas so I'll have Gunter to wander around in. It's all white and cream fabric tho so I worry it'll get horribly dirty after wearing it once. His wig is almost done now, so there is some hope I'll get the rest finished on time.

Yeah, that’s the main reason I go to cons, too. I’m not into guests, rarely find panels I’m interested in, and don’t shop much since most of my favorite series aren’t popular enough for merchandise.

Ah, I ran into the Yugis at Cosplay Day. I had to introduce myself as the Cecelia from AnimeNext since they didn’t recognize me at first in my D costume. Didn’t realize they got me on video, too. ^_^;

Well, I think you should be okay with the white and cream fabric, assuming you’re careful around things that might stain and nothing drags on the floor. I always try to pick up the tails of my cream brocade D coat when going up and down stairs and pull them up when I sit down. Even after several wearings, the only stains are a few small smudges on the lining at the bottom of the tails. I’ve even gone through the subway with it and the outside still looks completely clean.
