So over on Tumblr I got a few people REALLY loving on Rot and Felix so I decided to do some art. Explained some character things, got my head going. Started to even like Siali. We all know how much I hate her...
SO: non Nightmare Syndicate stuff:
I've been staying with these two lunkheads and will be for the rest of the week ;U;
SOMETIMES I MISS MANGO'S EARS, and wanna revel in his jaw, and wanna liven up on a joke Natalie and I made about Alex loving Ratchet and Clank loooooooooooooool.
Worked out the varying layers of Rot's outfit finally, when first introduced you'll see him in the massive headdress outfit, when Siali rips that off him while trying to fight him for her bag back it falls off, we're stuck with the middle outfit most of the time - hat or not. He loves his hat though. After that encounter though he grabs what he can and FLEES - frightened to have had his face seen.
The next time we see him he gives an odd speech to her about fighting, introduces himself in a way I always hear in a sort of V manner - the tone and line delivery that is.
Worked out the colors finally on it, I like to change a character up once a year if they've been in sort of a STALE field but as much as I tried to work the green from a few years ago in, the yellow is here to stay.
Very much though, I'm stuck on liking this design versus the original one:
So there's still some thought process going on there but I think I'll stick the the semi poofy army fatigue type pants instead even if I use them and wear them too much myself har har har
Needing to relearn how to work this hair on him though - putting this here so I stop losing him :T
The next illustration I need to work on is he and Bo-Nez or Swiegley fighting and him baring teeth and face like this. - sorry to revisit so much older art but I'm trying to keep it organized and all in one place right now so I can work out story kinks and the like ;U;
Due to him gaining new fans though I decided to give him a draw. I need to decide about if he has a split line up his face visible or is it fairly unnoticed. I might go with the former and make it visible entirely. I also like my idea with his mohawk having a lot of iridescent peacock and raven colors in it - subtle blues and greens among deeeeeeep plum purples!
Working through the idea of his mask before I did the drawing all the way at the top - success was had ;U;
Not much work on Felix really I think I have him all figured out. Gonna do a full body of him soon to work out his pants, boots, lower coat tails etc. He was originally designed after a Luts doll but I've since hated the doll minus the coat. so we'll see what I come up with. gonna mess with his hair some this week and see if I like it as it is or if I want to bring back the bangs.
So I'm stuck at thinking on his monster form more and more lately. Been revisiting my ideas for the story ending. Siali and he do battle. She's done the cliche finding herself in a world filled with nothing that makes sense - you are your own worst enemy and your greatest tool. She's found Key-iths token for passing and Felix has cheated her out of it. I'm thinking perhaps she refuses to give him the key so his trigger for monster fluttering becomes his rage. She's never seen Felix flip out so her fear starts trickling. As it progresses I think he'll approach her still in control but his mind shifts every so often as her fear thickens - clouding his mind. She stabs his hand and flees for the path to the door, trees collapse sealing her in the area. Fight fight fight, Swiegley might step in and do something about Felix. Maybe Rot I think - I think he was supposed to die by his hand for trying to protect Siali, for whom he had grown a crush on awwwwwwwwwwww - dead.
Even if she's my main character I never draw her. Her hair is a pain in the ass what the flying fuck. So I took time to kind of get a grasp on how thin she is.
I don't do a lot of full bodies of my own characters so I figured one of her would be good, I also rarely color my sketches and full bodies so.... the blue is going to stay. I tried anything else and nothing worked.
Character development has been happening like a bitch the past 48 hours. I haven't thought things through this much in years of Nightmare Syndicate.
