Yuuto Sakaeguchi never believed that their local weatherman fails horribly. Day after day his teammates complained on how his forecasts are almost always wrong. Sakaeguchi was fortunate enough to be excused from getting out of the house on days with false weather predictions... until now.

“…stupid weatherman” he muttered, looking glumly at the rain.

The whole Nishiura team learnt that asking their catcher about the weather, for some reason, resulted in information much more accurate and reliable. Maybe Abe has some weird senses or some sort … that needs to be looked at. Either way, our second baseman was a tad bit on too much on the excited side this morning and forgot to bring his umbrella. Of course, he noticed this before practice, but chose to ignore it. The weatherman did say it was going to be sunny all day today. Boy, was he wrong. It’s pouring hard right now and Sakaeguchi is stuck in the club room, unable to go home. If he ever becomes a lawyer in the future, the weatherman would probably be the first person he’d sue.

“Yo, Sakaeguchi! I figured you needed help.”

Turning his head to look behind him, Sakaeguchi saw Izumi opening an umbrella over both of their heads, grinning as he did so. Sakaeguchi could feel slight warmth on his face, but he’s pretty sure it’s because of the summer heat. Definitely not blush. Nope.

“Izumi? What are you doing?” he asked, trying his best not to stutter.

“Didn’t you hear me? I said you needed help - unless you want to be stuck here until tomorrow.” Izumi puffed, gesturing for Sakaeguchi to come with him.

“B-But…” Sakaeguchi hesitated.

“If you don’t want to-“

“Okay then!” He gripped his bag firmly as Izumi nodded.

He tried to stay at the end of the umbrella to avoid bumping into Izumi and at the same time not get wet. He kept both eyes away.

For a few minutes it was very quiet, only the sound of footsteps clashing against the water on the ground and rain patting hard against the umbrella resonated in the background.

Sakaeguchi couldn’t help but glance at Izumi, who was walking with him silently, his face unreadable. Sakaeguchi couldn’t help but yelp when his face started to warm up again - it was yet another blush, so he turned away, halfway into the rain.

“Sakaeguchi.” Izumi called.

“Yes?” Sakaeguchi answered, not coming back under the umbrella.

“You’re getting wet.” Izumi leaned closer to him causing the two stick to each other less than one inch away.

“Th-thanks…” He stammered.

Closing his eyes, he let out a small sigh in attempt to calm himself down. His lips formed a small smile. Now apparently content with the other’s company, Sakaeguchi hummed as he walked, the sound breaking the earlier silence. Sensing the tension disappearing from between them, Izumi’s expression softened, and used his free hand to grab hold onto Sakaeguchi’s.

“I guess the weatherman isn’t that bad after all” Sakaeguchi mused.
