I wonder if other writers, great writers, looked at their work and felt woefully insufficient? I want to write something like the way Jacob's Ladder feels. Until I do, I don't think I can really call myself a writer.

As a side note, I have no clue, I loved the idea of "Jack the Ripper" as a courier of knowledge. And I know works can't be duplicated--I meant I wanted to be able to impact people the way Jacob's Ladder impacts people. If I can affect people emotionally and psychologically on a deeper level than they're used to being on, then I think I've achieved something. These days, that means that if I can affect people at ALL I've done a pretty decent job.
