I've been meaning to make a journal type post for a while, but when I get the time I don't have the enthusiasm, and vice versa - so keep your fingers crossed for this attempt.
Last week was the most "rock" week I'd had in ages. On the Friday I popped out to meet
perspexavenger for a wee drinkie and somehow ended up in Subway City with
rinkyandmerlin,
rjstra,
philoko, the twins and a few others. We felt a bit old. It took a 45 year old track to fill the dance floor, which amused me greatly, and then there was much dancing after that. They even played my favourite Crue track without my asking - hurrah!
Then on Wednesday I headed to the LG to see Kiss. Literally, as the lovely Mr Horsburgh had managed to wangle us not only into the Meet And Greet thing, but also into a private chat with Paul Stanley. It was very cool. I was shocked to discover quite how tall Gene and Paul are. Okay, they were wearing platform boots, but I was wearing high heels that probably make me about 5'11", ad I only came up to Gene's solar plexus! Speaking of Gene, he was very intimidating (in a good way) and totally made of flirt. It took him practically no time at all to make me blush - and I don't do that very often. And yes, his tongue really is that long. Paul was nice too, in a businessman kind of way. It was all very professional - not like the drunken backstage shambles I'm used to.
Another good thing about the evening was that I got to briefly meet up with a bunch of the old thrash crowd from school, who have all cut their hair off and had kids now (Sam has FOUR!!!), and also that
rjstra and I managed to find each other for the actual band. They were, of course, very good. This time they even played almost all my favourites - and I knew they wouldn't play "Unholy" anyway, so wasn't too upset that they missed it out. There were fireworks and flying around on wires and all good stuff. Yay.
And then on Saturday just gone I met up with a bunch of people in Subside to celebrate
rinkyandmerlin's birthday. We went on to Eddies and there was lots of dancing. It was fab. The lovely
philoko let me kip in their spare room, so I even got to get pleasantly tiddly (aka drinking all my taxi money - oops!).
So what else have I been up to? and I took Izzy to Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb the weekend before last. She really loved watching the cars, and would jump up and spin around to see what car it was when she heard an engine. Strangers were laughing at her and saying "she really likes the cars!" a lot. She also really liked sitting on Mummy's lap in the sunshine helping her with her bowl of chips. That was nice. She's getting so big now and is now crawling, and can walk if her hand is held. I'm so proud that she seems to love cars and cheese and drums and heavy metal and fake fur and leather. That's our girl!
Work-wise I'm temping in Worcester three days a week at the moment in a firm I really like. I think I've mentioned them on here before. I am hoping that they'll make me permanent, but that comes with a bunch of strings attached and I don't know whether it will be viable in the end. Am giving it my best shot though as I really enjoy the job, like the people, and the money is good.
In other news I am also giving the lounge a coat of paint. We moved in nearly 5 years ago, saying the lounge needed doing properly, including reducing the size of the chimney breast and replastering the ceiling. So we put it off until we had the money. But we don't have the money and it doesn't look like we will have for a while. In the meantime it's been driving us nuts, so it is gradually being turned the colour of coffee ice cream. Every time I stir the paint I want to take a spoonful. That can't be good. It's taking a while as only one of us can work on it at a time, due to baby wrangling, but we're getting there.
Talking of getting there, this is very long, so I shall stop now.
