Passport application

So if you filled in a passport application and five separate people checked it over (including two of whom were post office check and send people) and okayed it, then you received a call and a letter saying that it hadn't been signed so you'd have to submit a new one and pay another £60 and no you can't have a photocopy of the old one that you ( ( Read more... )

Complain. Presumably the Post Office are still charging for their checking service, so it shouldn't have failed such a basic check (probably because it *was* signed). Hopefully if you kick up enough of a stink you can get them to prove what the problem is.

Other than that... bugger!!!

That they're a load of numpties who've screwed up your application and can't admit it.

Complain to a supervisor? At the Post Office as well as the passport office?

Last time I had to get a passport (for Rory) they checked it in front of me at the High Commission and didn't accept it until they were sure it was OK. So much easier.....though having a man with a machine gun check Rory's pram for explosives was a little weird.......

Unfortunately the Post Office have a clause limiting their liability. No idea whether it'd pass the UCTA test, but am not likely to have the time or effort to push it that far.

Mind you, I have a feeling that it only limits their liability for negligence, not breach of contract. Must check.
