I am also wondering how we are going to deal with the ever-growing mound of washing, given the time it takes for things to dry on the clothes horse.

Does anyone local have a tumble-dryer that they would be willing to lend us for a load or three if we pay the electricity?

If you don't find anyone closer, ours can be used... We have the same problem as we do like to avoid using the dryer when possible and it can take ages to get things dried...

In theory you'd be welcome to use ours. However, we have a washer drier and it's utterly rubbish. It takes ages and ages and ages and eventually you have warm damp clothes. I just dry my stuff over the radiators.
