I've found that following @BlackBerryHelp on Twitter for a while was a great way of picking up on useful little short-cuts for using e-mail, the web and general Blackberry stuff. After a while they repeat a lot of it over and over, but initially it was really helpful.
Thinks like tap 'r' in a web page to refresh (although it's 'd' for Twitter), 't' to go to the top of the page and similar stuff like that in other functions. Saves having to go through the menus to do something everytime.
I'm sure I don't use half the hoopy things it could be used for, but if there's anything specific you want to ask about once you've prodded it a bit I'm happy to have a stab at answering! :o)
As to why I got a blackberry, it's the one with the keypad that works best for me. I have quite cold hands, so touchscreens just don't. e.g. using John's iPhone, I often have to 'press' a key three or four times to get it to work.
could well be because i don't have proper blackberry fu, but mine randomly decides to delete saved emails and texts without me asking it to, so until you work it out, i'd advise not keeping anything terribly important saved on it.
whereas I have written three novels on my blackberry and have only ever lost one document and that was because of user error rather than an issue with the device. It also works reliably as a phone and doesn't take up to five minutes to find a mast - unlike my iPhone.
