Fandom Snowflake Challenge/Yuletide Recs: Day 2

Jan 04, 2012 12:18

Please note I seem doomed to forever be a day behind. O WELL. Maybe I will catch up eventually.

Anyway, the challenge for Jan 2 is: "In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, ( Read more... )

I haven't reread for ages, but I remember as a smallish person (I think between a child and a teenager) getting completely blown away by 101 Dalmatians and how much... grander it was than the film? God, I'm probably misremembering horribly, but there's something really gorgeous about her writing and the bits about the Dog Star (which may actually be the sequel ugh I have to reread) have always stuck with me.

BASICALLY I LOVE THOSE BOOKS.

Thank you for the rec. :-) Lewis fandom seems to have woken up and happened in the last little while. I know a friend of mine went looking for it a couple of years ago and was sad to find there wasn't really a fandom at all. Over the past six months or so people on my flist kept mentioning it, though, so I finally watched for myself, and then it grabbed me and now the voices won't stop talking to me. *g*

One tiny little point about my fic: I freely admit that I am terrible at rating stories, but I did rate it as Explicit because I think the shower scene is bordering on that. If not for one particular sentence, I would have rated it as Mature. I think it is probably more than PG-13, anyway. YMMV, of course.

Also, I missed the Hundred and One Dalmations fic when I was going through the archive. Thanks for the rec; will have to check it out!

Oh man, sorry for the rating fandango! I actually didn't even think to use the AO3 ratings. /o\ I've adjusted the rec to say PG-13 to R, but if that doesn't suit, I can just say "Explicit". Whatever works for you!

Also oh man, thank you so much for the AMAZING STORY. It really is so fantastic seeing Lewis fandom come alive - I hope the voices continue to talk to you, because you capture them beautifully. Also, you know, that Hathaway is such a dishy fellow. Who could resist him? CERTAINLY NOT LEWIS. OR ME.

Thanks for the adjustment. I'm not American and that middle part of the US ratings system always confuses me, so I get a bit twitchy whenever I rate anything containing a sex scene.

I love how many great Lewis stories popped up in the end of year gift exchanges! So much good reading for such a small fandom. I agree that Hathaway's lovely, and Lewis certainly can't resist him once he wakes up enough to realise that that option is actually open to him. *g* What I find equally interesting is how every time I go to write Hathaway I find that he's already in love with Lewis. This probably explains why they can't keep their hands off each other once they get to that point. ;-)

I'm really glad you enjoyed my Yuletide story so much. :-) I don't think there's much danger of Lewis and Hathaway letting me go anytime soon. I'm working on a follow-up to my story 'Falling' atm, but there seem to be a bunch of other ideas making themselves heard, too, so there's likely to be more.

To be honest, I am American and out ratings system confuses the hell out of me, too. Violence vs sex vs what kind of sex... it is all so muddled and weird. ANYWAY, yes, hopefully the amendment helps! <3

YES. I was so startled and delighted to discover Lewis had a gift exchange this year! And so much awesome fic in it! And I completely agree about Lewis. One of my favorite things about him is how open-minded and dynamic he is as a character - he reacts, mulls things over, then actually changes his mind as the show goes on. I can totally see him eventually coming around to the idea that Hathaway is a snarky snugglebunny in love and that they both need to have lots of sex and babies. Or just the sex and maybe a cat. I'm flexible.

I am STOKED to read the follow up to Falling! Sorry for the lack of comment on it -- I have been rolling around in a daze in the newly-discovered fandom for the last week or so, and now I need to go back and leave comments on everything. Which means I need to re-read everything. Not a hardship. :D

RIGHT? And apparently the 'Lendel bit is part of a whole SERIES. And the Nightrunner fic has CROSSDRESSING. I AM UNDONE.
