Hi I'm new here but I have this slip-stitch pattern I'm working a gague on and I don't know how to calculate the gauge over rows. Could someone please help?
Okay. That's still fairly easy to do. Let me give you an example. Let's say that your gauge is supposed to be 20 sts = 4 inches. Here is how I would do it. I would cast on 26 sts (3 for a garter stitch edge on the right side, 20 for the stitch pattern and 3 more for a garter stitch edge on the left side. Knit for several inches in pattern stitch maintaining garter st on sides. If the 20 stitch pattern area is not 4 inches (not counting edges) then adjust your needle size accordingly.
For the rows, if it says 40 rows = 4 inches, it will be easy to count them using the garter stitch edges. Each ridge of a garter stitch = 2 rows.
