I watched her face carefully, but it was hard to read her. Maybe I was out of practice, maybe she was just really good at hiding it - heck, maybe it was both or maybe I had never been able to really understand all the inner workings of Tara - who knew?
I tried, for a moment, to put myself in her shoes... wasn't like mine were fitting me that well at the moment anyways.
I'd had that talk with Willow, telling her about me, Wes, and Angel. How it had been so hurtful and so screwed up... I think, at the time, that I was telling her that Tara was like Angel. Someone who would always be a part of your life, someone you'd always love, but... maybe you'd changed. Maybe the person that you were wasn't the person that you were now, the one that your back-from-the-dead lover had known.
It was easy to say that to Willow. But... what if I'd been wrong? And even if I wasn't, what could I possibly say to Tara to make her feel better?
Was that even my job?
