Traveling Through the Dark I Found a Deer
I stubbed my toe
on a hoof
and gored myself
on velveteen antler.
Hemorraging fear
and intestines
into bloodstained, bloodshot,
buckshot eyes -
wide as maple leaves
and just as red -
I disconnect myself
from the beast and stare
down its crimson drenched muzzle,
pierce its wild nature dead eyes,
and feel into its brain.
