Darn

It looks like my worries about points were valid - I just tried to subscribe to daverss, but Live Journal informed me that I don't have enough points. I imagine other people with free accounts will have the same problem, unless LJ somehow gives you more points over time. Maybe they do, I don't know.

Okay, I added you to my friends. You should be able to add daverss, but maybe syndicating a feed costs a point? your feed only costs me about .6 points, and dave's even less. i'll get justin and cyndi to do it as well

Huh, now I can subscribe to daverss. I think I know what's going on now. The cost of a feed appears to be related to the number of people subscribing to it. When you subscribed to my feed, the cost of it went down, which freed up just enough points for me to subscribe to daveress. If justin and cyndi subscribe, that will help create a little more breathing room. According to LJ:

You are using 0.967 of your allowed 0.990 points.

that's right. calnhobbes (a Calvin & Hobbes syndicated account), has 6000 LJ readers and only costs .156 points.
