so i'm bored. i was doing a random journal search and i came across this girl. i don't remember he livejournal name, i was just reading entries not info. anyway, in one of her entries she talks about being half jamaican and half irish. she said she looks more black than white, but she's "not black". she "cannot be both" so she had to choose one.

it's so difficult to draw those lines with one's ethnicity. i have a friend who is half black and half white, but due to the fact that he is not 100% white, whenever he has to fill out anything that has to do with his race, he has to fill the black bubble. he can't fill both. i wish we didn't have to fill either... but i'm a honky white boy, so i guess i don't have the room to complain.

ethnicity/sexual orientation/religious beliefs/ shoe size...

blah. im the same. my dad wants me to just say im a black girl, and that always pisses me off. so everytime someone asks what ethnicity i am, i always say im asian first, just to piss off my dad. its something little, but it always angers him. oh well.

and plus on tests or surveys when they ask what ethnicity are you. eventhough they say choose one. i put both african american AND asian/pacific whatever the asian choice is.
