Merry christmas!!

Hi all!!! Long time huh? ;)

Sorry that I've been VERY absent!!
No real explanation why, but it has basically been because I've had other things on my mind.
But let's get you caught up on what I've been up to. ;)

August:
My friend Jenny left for her new hostfamily in California, was a very sad day for me, we both cried ALOT!
Unfortunatley it didn't work out with that hostfamily(it's a long and crazy story)! But now she's with a family in Colorado that is awesome!

I won a contest with DC101 that meant that I got to see Switchfoot(it was only Jon and Drew) perform an acoustic performance. Got to take a picture with them and talk with them.

Another one of my friends, Lia left to go back to Germany. Can't wait until I get to see her again!

Went to Cape Cod with my hostfamily. We went out for whale watching which was one of the coolest things I have ever done! :)

September:
Went to Six Flags again with a bunch of my friends, so much fun! We spent the entire day there.
Me and another friend, Ann went on a ride and I thought that my arm was gonna fall off. :P

My best friend Anna came for a visit!! Showed her around DC and Northern Virginia.
She went supercrazy with my camera! ;)

October:
Anna and I went to New York and she was ecstatic! We managed to squeeze in alot of things for only two days.

I got a new camera after one of my hostkids dropped my other one. Lucky enough I got an upgraded version now.

Went to a really crazy houseparty that one of my friends had, we had alot of fun and didn't go to bed until 4am.

Me and a friend Nathalie went to a haunted forest, it was scary!!!
Was close to having a panic attack, I got scared over and over again. Got chased and people that was dressed up actually went up in your face.

On the 24th I finally got to see Lifehouse!!! It was one of the best nights ever! They played almost all of the songs from their latest album and also alot of old songs for example, "Everything", "Hanging by a moment".

The day after was something that I will never forget, my niece Elina was born!! :)
Can't wait until I get to hold her and play with her.

On Halloween I went with my two french friends in to DC where we went on a bar crawl, we danced the night away!

November
On the 13th me and my friend Anne-marie set off on a big roadtrip!
Our first stop was Duke University which is like a dream university.
Would love to study there!

The next stop was Wilmington, NC. We basically saw everything that has to do with One Tree Hill and a little bit of Dawson's Creek.
We were even lucky enough to see scenes for One Tree Hill being filmed. Dave Navarro was there and me and my friend also got to take a picture with Sophia Bush! I also saw the creator of One Tree Hill, Mark Schwahn(?).

The third stop was Savannah, GA. Such a beautiful city! We went to the park where they filmed a bit of Forrest Gump.
We wanted to see the statue from the book "In the garden of good and evil" but it was apparently in museum so we decided to skip it.

Next stop was Atlanta, GA. While there we went to the Coca Cola Museum, which was really alot of fun! We went into a 4-D theater and at the end of the museum you got to try 62 different drinks that Coca Cola manufactures.
We also went to the worlds largest aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium.
They had a huge tank that made me feel super tiny! ;)
We got to pet stingrays and starfish.

After that we drove to Gautier, MS where some of my relatives lives. They took us out along the gulf coast to Biloxi, Gulfport. etc.
They showed us much of the devastation that Hurricane Katrina had done and it was VERY visible. You could clearly see how houses were missing and there were big gaping holes of land where there once had been businesses and such.
They also took us to a big casino where we had a ton of food, it was super duper good! I even tried the slotmachines and I managed to win 23 dollars and 75 cent!

Our final stop was New Orleans, I fell in love with that city instantly! You could walk on the streets and it was crazy to see how people were already drunk at 2pm ;). During the evening we went to the Preservation Hall and listened to jazz, after that we went to Pat O'Briens and had a hurricane, which apparently is one of the strongest drinks in New Orleans. We walked along Burbon street and some other streets, it was very cool and such an experience! We eventually ended up on a piano bar where there were "duelling" pianos faced against each other and they played alot of songs that everyone was singing along to!

The day after we went back to my relatives house where even more of my extended family came over for dinner.
It was really fun and they were so nice to me and my friend. They were all so interested in everything about Sweden. *hehe*

The day after that we headed home, it took us 16 hours until we got back. We started at 6am and we weren't back until 11.30 at night.

December:
Well this month is not quite over yet! ;)
Me, Katharina and Tanja went to a race track where we were supposed to ride along in a nascar, but we had really bad luck because the car broke down! We waited for about an hour and it started working again, we only had two other people infront of us in the line and then the car broke down again! So instead of getting to do it, we got a refund instead. :(

Last week, Nathalie, another au-pair friend went home :( But at least we live in the same country so hopefully we will be able to meet again soon. I drove her to the airport when the snow came, so it was a very nervous ride back all by myself since americans don't have winter tires :(.

This past Wednesday the kids went on their christmas break, and for the first time in my life I made gingerbread cookies, without help from my mom. Haha! ;) The kids was very into it and it took us quite some time to do it.

Next week I'm going to New York for the new years celebration, it's gonna be awesome! :)

Hopefully I will be able to get better on updating from now on!! :) :)

I hope you're all having a great christmas holiday!

au-pair, life
