Good morning, Class 2-C. I am your new homeroom and social studies teacher, Nozomu Itoshiki.

As my first task as a teacher here, I have been told to give out these 'Hopes for the future' surveys to you all. But, you should know by now that there is no hope in this world! It is possible for you to cling on naively to hope through your younger years ( Read more... )

1. Have a healthy body image despite what I see in magazines/the media
2. A challenging career in which I'm paid the same as my male coworkers and given respect
3. Having a boyfriend who loves me for my brains

4. To someday have someone who understands my feelings and needs implicitly, without me having to say anything aloud. Ours would be a deep and soulful connection. Walking hand in hand on the beach, gazing at the stars, spending hours simply staring into one another's eyes. This person would understand the poetry of my innermost being and I would cherish them for the rest of my days, needing nothing else but their smile to get through anything life throws my way.

Ain't gonna happen. I'll probably get nailed by some cold-hearted bitch freshman year of college when some frat boys get me drunk at a party. She will sink her claws deep into my heart because she will be my FIRST and I won't be able to break it off for fear that I'll never have anyone else.

She will chase all my friends away. Then we'll end up married because we think it'll make the situation better. It won't. We'll be divorced within two years. If there are any children, I won't get custody.

Utterly and completely hopeless! Excellent, it's refreshing to see such a young person who is already so aware of what he cannot achieve. You are truly worthy as my student.

This is not 'fun', Flouriet-Sensei! This is a very important exercise to demonstate to the students how hopeless life really is, and that if they aim too high then they will be met with certain failure!

However, seeing as you are already here, how about providing the students with an example? Care to fill in a survey?
