It was warm, comfortably so; the humid, sticky heat of Cuban summers he remembered so well, had no place here and now - the very last day of a miserable year. Since Lenore had brought 'a dress', Callum had brought his tux but he wasn't sure he would have to wear it for he had no idea what kind of dress she'd be putting on.

He sat in the small living-room area of the suite they shared, wearing black dress pants and a crisp white shirt, waiting for Lenore to appear from her room. His jacket was draped carefully over the back of a chair and he was playing with the black strip of cloth that was his bowtie.

It felt good to be away from England, from Europe and the messy state it was in. The ex-bounty-hunter needed a break from the madness back home. He had left Dumbledore a note that he would be away but hadn't specified where exactly he was going, knowing the old man wouldn't try to contact him unless it was really, really urgent. Even then it would be up to Archer to decide whether it qualified as urgent or not. Chances were that ( ... )

Lenore grinned as she held back a laugh, the expression reflected in the mirror. "If you're so concerned you could always come and get me," she called back, giving her makeup one final touch.

Although Lenore was confident that she could have made a potato sack look good (if anyone could) she'd left Callum's suggestion aside and brought a nice little cocktail dress. It had the benefit of looking good without being stuffy- literally or figuratively, which was good considering the climate and her company. The heat was a welcome change. Being anywhere but those miserable northern islands was a welcome change. And she got to show off some leg. Lenore was fully behind this idea of Callum's for getting away- far away- and drinking until this year was good and bloody well gone ( ... )

The corners of Callum's mouth curled up into a smirk when Lenore finally emerged from the other room. She looked fantastic - not that he'd expected anything else from her - and he was sure that she would piss of more than enough other women when they hit the streets.

"Nice dress," he commented, lifting an eyebrow, and chuckled as he got up to pour her a drink. "Guess, with you looking like that, I have no other choice but to dress up as well, have I?" Grinning, he passed Lenore the firewhisky and began to fiddle with his tie.

"There's a table at a fine little restaurant waiting for us. They serve local specialties and I thought that we could mingle with the muggles afterwards. They're more fun, don't you think?"

Lenore lifted a teasing eyebrow in turn and grinned. "Thank you." It never hurt to look good, especially if you were planning to enjoy yourself. Things were so much more fun that way. It was a personal holiday, after all. If you couldn't dress up for a holiday, what could you dress up for? Never mind that for once, away from Great Britain and the whole mess of it, she finally felt as though it were alright to draw attention to herself again. Sad state of affairs when Lenore Grey had started pulling things in in an effort to go unnoticed.

She nodded her thanks at the drink and continued to smile. "Well you do clean up well," she complimented. Callum in a suit was a rare treat. Lenore couldn't remember the last time she's seen him in one. Possibly his wedding.

She sipped her firewhiskey as he filled her in on the plans. "Mmm. Definitely more fun," Lenore agreed. She'd had quite enough of wizarding problems for the next few years, thanks. Pretending there wasn't even any such thing as Death Eaters or the Order suited ( ... )
