Personality:
Denys isn’t very outgoing not because of poor social skills but by choice since he doesn’t feel comfortable around too many people and doesn’t go out of his way to make friends. He is prone to mood swings going from happy carefree to borderline sociopathic within seconds when put under extreme pressure. Under normal circumstances, however, he has the potential to be pleasant and entertaining.
Strengths: Both magical and personality:
Denys is very exceptionally skilled in Potions and Divinations. The test results were rather surprising considering the fact that his parents never put much emphasis on these two subjects, however, the Ashworths have put much effort in prepping him for Hogwarts.
Weaknesses: Both magical and personality:
Astronomy and Herbology are not his friends, however, his marks were good enough to gain him access to the NEWT level classes. He has to work exceptionally hard to maintain acceptable grades in these two classes though which annoys the hell out of him sometimes but his great respect for Sly and his affections for Gerry keep him going.
Due to his health condition, he has to carry an inhaler with him at all times in case of an asthma attack. It is rather curious though that he seems to use it even if he appears to be perfectly fine. When asked, he’d answer that it is a precautionary measure. Sometimes he talks to himself when he’s nervous which might strike other people as odd and slightly crazy.

Failure. Denys intends to pursue the same career as his father and has a carefully laid out plan to achieve this goal. However, it takes much patience and endurance - both of which are qualities that he doesn’t possess but his determination can make up for it, he hopes.
History:
Denys was born on July 16th 1989 in Pretoria, South Africa. His parents, David Erickson and Savannah Harper Erickson, were gemstone specialists whose focus lay on improving the quality of precious stones by adding a little magic to the methods used by Muggles. Their innovative and effective production of artificial stones and their skill in enhancing stones that were already set in items was their entrance ticket to the Ashworth family who offered them work in their restoration department. Two months ago, the Ericksons received news that a supposedly dead diamond mine in India might not be as dead as everyone believed. Always interested in finding new/old natural resources, David and Savannah immediately went there to check it. The mine itself, however, was a leftover from the late 19th century, thus highly unstable and collapsed, killing them instantly.
Denys had stayed behind in London because for the first time in his life he was going to attend a real school. Due to his parents' extensive travelling, he had only received home schooling which focused mainly on Transfigurations, some Muggle chemistry and a little Charms. He has some basic knowledge of the other subjects taught at Hogwarts; enough to be able to follow his classes. The sudden death of his parents and his health condition (asthma), however, prevented him from starting the term with the others. The British branch of the Ashworth family has taken him into foster care.

There seemed to be nothing left to say. Numbly, Denys watched Aislin turn away from him and leave. He slipped his shaking hands into his pockets to hide them from view. His left hand closed around an object that turned out to be one of the inhalers.
The Slytherin pulled it out and stared at it. Anger boiled up and with a sudden movement, he smashed the device into the wall, shattering it to pieces. Without another glance back, he stormed out of the common room. The ground was littered with small plastic splinters. From the wall polyjuice potion mingled with a little blood slowly made its way down towards its broken container.
