10 Words to describe your character: hard-working, dedicated, compassionate, loyal, intelligent, optimistic, flighty, insecure, friendly, talkative

EXTENDED APPLICATION -- PLEASE DO AT LEAST A PARAGRAPH ON EACH OF THESE, UNLESS THEY ARE STATED TO BE OPTIONAL
Personality: For all her other traits, Abbie is first and foremost optimistic. Certainly, a good attitude is helpful to get through such difficult times, but it is especially a strength for a teacher. Abbie believes whole-heartedly that all of her students are capable of passing and doing well in her class, even those students who aren't particularly talented at the subject. She sees that there will be an end to the war, that good will eventually triumph someday, regardless of how far away it seems. Idealistic? Perhaps, but it's the only way Abbie can deal with all this without going insane.

Strengths: Both magical and personality: Abbie's magical strengths lie almost entirely in what can be written on a page - obviously Arithmancy, but also things like History of Magic and Ancient Runes. Her charms work isn't terrible, either, and is the strongest of any of her wandwork.

Abbie's greatest personality strength is her hard-working attitude. (Certainly, that's the main reason she's a Hufflepuff.) Although her magical abilities may be lacking in some areas, she works her hardest to make sure she can keep up with the necessary skills. She expects the same from her students - whether or not they are particularly gifted in arithmancy, she will work her hardest to help them keep up, so long as the student is also making a complete effort.

Weaknesses: Both magical and personality: Abbie tends to struggle with the hands-on, practical types of magic like Potions and Herbology. She worked her tail off during her first five years of school just to pass the OWL, now she tends to rely on other people if she needs a particularly complex potion. While her charms are certainly passable, she struggles with Transfiguration and, again, doesn't do much of it beyond the basic level.

Personality-wise, Abbie often lacks confidence in her abilities as a teacher. She knows that she's excellent at arithmancy, but believes she doesn't necessarily know how to teach it. She can also be a bit flighty - the nicer way to put it would be "free-spirited".

Fears: Abbie's greatest fear is that something terrible would happen to her family. As the youngest child, she has always looked up to her sisters and parents, and even at 32 years old, she is terrified that something could happen to them - particularly in the midst of the war that is going on.

Abbie also fears doing a poor job as a teacher. She sees her own weaknesses of personality, and worries that she doesn't "have what it takes" to be as helpful and influential as she remembers her own teachers being while she was in school.

History: Abbie is the youngest of Aidan and Aliona Johansson's three daughters. The two met while they were students at Hogwarts - Aidan is the son of a pureblood witch and a halfblood wizard; Aliona is the daughter of two Muggleborn wizards. After their graduations, Aidan worked as a cursebreaker for Gringotts; as a result, the family traveled quite a bit while the girls were still younger. Abbie and her older sister Adriana were both born in Egypt, where her father was working, but the family returned to England just after Abbie's third birthday to take a year and get "settled down" before her oldest sister Anna was old enough to attend Hogwarts. Because she was so young when all the moving went on, Abbie doesn't really have a great memory of all the traveling her family did - but her sisters both do, and she always wished that she, too, could remember traveling to such amazing places.

As the youngest, Abbie was also the last to attend Hogwarts, and like both her sisters and her mother, she was sorted into Hufflepuff. She discovered very early in her Hogwarts career that Potions and Herbology were going to be a struggle for her all the way through school. During her first two years of classes, she greatly preferred Astronomy and History of Magic to any other subjects, but when entering her third year, she ended up adding the three classes that she would like most and excel at. During her fifth year, she was named a prefect for Hufflepuff House.

By the time she had finished school, she discovered that she had her father's skill at working with numbers and breaking codes, and realized she could turn that into a career that would allow her to travel as much as her parents had (and remember it, this time!). Abbie decided she wasn't quite willing to be quite as adventurous as her parents - instead of cursebreaking, she went into banking and also did some research. Sure enough, after a few years of boredom and busywork, the job began to take her to far more exciting locations, including Spain, which is where she was working when she was asked to come back to Hogwarts and teach.

Currently, her sisters are both living overseas with their respective families - a sort of safety measure, really - and her parents live in London. Her mother recently retired from her job with the Ministry, and her father has mostly retired from Gringotts.

COMMUNITY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS -- ONLY ANSWER THE SECTION APPLICABLE TO YOUR CHARACTER
Hogwarts:
Year: alumna
House: Hufflepuff
Why are they in that house? Abbie believes firmly in the principle that hard work is enough to overcome any "lack" of talent. Particularly in teaching her classes, she's much happier to see a student putting in all their effort just to pass than a student who can slide through without much work. While in school, there were definitely subjects (like Herbology and Potions) that Abbie really struggled with and was really quite bad at - but she prided herself on working hard enough to pass them and get as much from them as possible. She also places extreme importance on her family and, to a lesser extent, to friends: Abbie would do just about anything to ensure the safety and happiness of her parents and older sisters.
Position: Professor of Arithmancy

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE -- PLEASE ENSURE THAT THIS IS IN THIRD PERSON NARRATIVE POINT OF VIEW
Abbie nervously unpacked boxes and stacked books on once-empty shelves, preparing her classroom for her first day of teaching. She realized her hands were shaking a bit as she sorted through a pile of number-covered documents on her desk. Are they crazy? she thought. Me, a teacher? What could they possibly be thinking? She sat down at her desk (her desk!) and started searching through the drawers for any evidence that another teacher had been here before...old lesson plans, homework assignments, even a class roster would be fabulous at this point, she figured, but wasn't having much luck.

"I don't even know where to start with these kids," Abbie mumbled, accidentely knocking over a pot of ink in her quest.

"Oh, bother," she cried, jumping back to keep the black ink from seeping into her robes. Oh, fantastic, she thought with a sigh. And now I have to clean all this up, too.

MOD-ONLY QUESTIONS -- THESE WILL ONLY BE KNOWN TO THE MODS
Character Secrets: None to speak of.

Character Alliance: Good, although Abbie thinks she lacks the magical abilities to be of use in any kind of offensive situation...she would never go out somewhere in an attempt to fight DEs, but would certainly defend herself and others to the best of her ability in a bad situation.
