EXTENDED APPLICATION -- PLEASE DO AT LEAST A PARAGRAPH ON EACH OF THESE, UNLESS THEY ARE STATED TO BE OPTIONAL
Personality: Typically:
Every heard of a free spirit? They must have been talking about Penny. Penny's the typical free spirited Gryffindor who hasn't a care in the world (except for defeating Voldemort, or at least helping defeat him). She's a child most of the time and doesn't like to act her age even though her mother protests against that constantly. Penny figures that why grow up while you've got someone paying for you?
She knows when is enough, and how to be an adult, she just doesn't want to most of the time. Snogging is just something to kill time with for her, and isn't all too important although she does like a random one every so often. Penny'd snog anyone, at any time (even a Slytherin) although 97% of the time it's meaningless to her and she expects it to be the same way in return.
Penny's not mean unless she's drunk and even then you have to get her really mad to get any type of an angry person out of her. Most of the time she just takes her anger out on the pitch or likes to write about it.
She tends to be a little too free spirited some times though and often gets in trouble with her professors and sometimes her friends as well because she speaks her mind all too much. Even though Penny can typically tell when enough is enough, if she's on one of her rambling rampages she loses that whole concept.
Penelope enjoys a good joke, and loves to laugh but then again who doesn't? She won't be afraid to speak her mind to you, and if Penny thinks that something you're doing is wrong she'll most definitely tell you (for example, she doesn't like what Voldie is doing so she voices her opinion to others).
Penny loathes being proper and a young lady. She'd rather roll around in the mud before putting on a nice dress. She believes that her parents never treated her, or her brother and sisters, like the children they should have been treated like, so not being proper is her way of rebelling against them.
'Side-effects' of Pregnancy:
After finding out she was pregnant, any of Penny's friends would definitely say that she's not who she used to be. Penelope's found it essential that she become more serious if she's to become a mother and responsible for another's life. She can't drink at any of the wild Gryffindor parties any more, so instead she's turned into the designated driver in a way, except that she just makes sure that everyone gets to their dorms (or at least somewhere out of harming themselves) safely. Penny's also become a bit moody. If she's happy about something, she lights up the whole room; if she's mad about something, everyone knows it; if Penny's sad, you'll likely see a puddle of tears around her.
Strengths: Both magical and personality:
Magical: Penny's an excellent quidditch player. When she would have to babysit her younger brothers and sisters, she usually would have them all out on the front lawn practicing with her. She's also very good at dueling and would be good in combat if given the chance.
Personality: She's incredibly free-spirited and carefree. Penny also is quite lovable as she's yet to find someone who's not a Slytherin who really can't stand to be in her presence. She knows when and where to direct her anger as well, never taking out her personal frustrations on a first year or beating someone up just for the thrill of it. Penny's good at being a listener when girls in her house want to vent or tell a secret to someone and she keeps to her promises if they ask her not to tell anyone.
Weaknesses: Both magical and personality:
Magical: Penny's not the best at around-the-house magic that's rather simple being the reason she dropped charms from her course-load. She's also not very good at wizarding games where you need to apply knowledge like exploding snaps, gobstones, or wizard's chess.
Personality: She's quite childish and irresponsible about almost everything in life except for taking care of her siblings. Her parents might disagree with her on that one but they're even more irresponsible than her so in Penny's opinion, they have no room to speak. Penny is also quite opinionated sometimes and once she gets going, it's typically very hard to stop her unless she thinks someone has a valid point against what she's arguing (which isn't often).
Fears/Motivations: Penny's afraid of losing anyone close to her - mainly her friends at Hogwarts, Dean, and her siblings. She's also afraid of how she'll die (which will eventually lead to her being afraid to give birth when she finds out she's pregnant) since she'd rather go out a natural or repectable way rather than something like choking to death or drowning.
History:
As most Purebloods are born and raised like mini-princes and princesses, Penelope was treated the same. The only difference is that she never could find it in herself to subject herself to the pureblood life like her 3 brothers and 2 sisters could.
Penny is the oldest child and daughter of Arthur and Erin. They had each child with 2 years in between each after the other except after Keegan they waited 3 years, and they had Alastar (5th year Hufflepuff), Biddy (3rd year Gryffindor), Keegan (1st year Ravenclaw), Kieran (8 years old), and Norah (6 years old). All of the children were raised as purebloods but were not raised as followers of Voldemort. The only real pureblood characteristic that they all have is how proper they are. Arthur and Erin inherited hoards of money after both of their parents died (around when Penny and Alastar were born), and figured that since they wanted to fit in with the rest of the pureblooded families, their children were going to grow up to lead extravagant lives and a life filled with lavish things that were completely unnecessary.
While Penny's younger brothers and sisters bought into what their parents gave them, she just couldn't bring herself to give in that easily. Obviously she liked what they were giving her and wouldn't ever say no to her mother or father, for fear of being beaten because they were strict parents. The children were always watched at pureblood parties and if any of them over stepped their boundaries or insulted another pureblood (Penny was the only one who did this for the most part), they were beaten when they were taken home later that night.
As far as sibling rivalry and how well they all get along, Penny gets along with all her brothers and sisters perfectly well. If there was going to be fight between any of the siblings though, it would be between Penny and Alastar since she's the oldest daughter, yet he's the oldest son. They often fight over who's favored more between their parents. Penny gets along best with her two younger sisters though because she practically raised them and is therefore very close to them.
While Arthur was working hard at St. Mungos and Erin was off working at the Daily Prophet, Penny was often left to watch (and raise) her younger brother and sisters. They never had a nanny but there were house elves there under strict orders to make sure they didn't get out of hand or in some way 'un-pureblood-like' (which was quite often because Penny was almost always left in charge).
Upon going to Hogwarts and completing 6 of her 7 years, Penny was perfectly fine. While her grades were always the best, they were acceptable to mother and father. During her fourth year, Penny was accepted onto the quidditch team as the keeper. Come fifth year, Penny was offered the position of prefect, of which she greatly appreciated and accepted with great gusto.
Although those events changed Penny's Hogwarts lifestyle, it wasn't until one of the pureblood parties her parents threw in the summer of her sixth year that would really change her last year at Hogwarts forever. At this party the Buxton family was there - one of the most respected and favored of the pureblood families invited since they have a son a year older than Penny. As to be expected, the two teens were introduced to each other and at first they weren't ...as fond of each other as their parents would have liked seeing as how the two were complete opposites with Penny being so free and relaxed, yet Dean so uptight and proper like he was raised to be. After spending some time together though, they started to become much better friends and understand where each was coming from with their first-impression attitudes.
Much to their parents' delight the two started dating on their own accord, rather than being forced into an arrange marriage, and are still dating to this day. The only problem with this relationship is that there aren't just two of them involved anymore. No, no, no - Penny and Dean were the epitome of dumb teenagers and didn't use protection. As assumed, Penny is now pregnant thanks to a couple of amazing... 'happenings' on Hogsmeade weekends.
(She doesn't actually know until the holiday break since she doesn't actually get pregnant until late October and is ... ill informed about things like that having grown up in a pureblood society and without parents to give her the dreaded talk.)
Significant Relationships:
Family: Alastar, Keegan, and Kieran Jennings - brothers ; Biddy and Norah Jennings - sisters
Friends: Unknown so far - I’ve yet to backstory her with any of the NP characters
Other: Dean, the father of her child
Special Considerations: The latest version of the Nimbus broom, please? Eventually when Penny’s in her mid-30s can she coach the Appleby Arrows? Lastly, (I’m not sure if I should put this here) I’ve written her to be pregnant - is that okay?
COMMUNITY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS -- ONLY ANSWER THE SECTION APPLICABLE TO YOUR CHARACTER
Hogwarts:
Year: 7
House: Gryffindor
Why are they in that house? Penny's in Gryffindor because of the extremes that she's willing to go to for her younger siblings and her brave attitude to state her opinion on issues like Voldemort without fear and challenge her parents every fake word without the fear of being backhanded. She also is daring enough to do stand up to her parents and take a hit for her brothers and sisters when even though they may deserve it, she takes the wrap or gets the beating instead.
Position: Prefect and Quidditch team keeper
