Nita was insanely curious just what, exactly, Ruth Ann Hunter was doing for an extra-curricular project that involved talking to a Prophet reporter. And specifically a Muggleborn one, at that. Perhaps the girl was taking Muggle Studies and needed to do a comparative thing, or something like that?
Then again, Nita distinctly remembered Ruth Ann from the career fair and doubted that it would be anything quite that tame.
As she entered the pub, she quickly looked around for the girl and finally spotted her in a corner, doodling in a sketchbook. At least, Nita hoped it was who she was looking for -- seemed more likely than not, but she couldn't be too careful. She approached the table cautiously.
"Are you Ruth Ann?" she asked, hoping that she was in the right place.
"Yes, that's me," Ruth Ann said cheerfully, sitting up straighter and smiling at the pretty young woman. "You can sit down if you like," she added as she flipped to the back of her sketchbook and took out a couple of articles that obviously been carefully clipped out of past copies of the Daily Prophet.
"Okay, first things first, I have to admit that the reasons I gave for asking to meet with you were, ummm... not exactly true?" she said. Sliding the twoarticles across the table to the young woman, Ruth Ann continued. "It's a personal project, not one for school, but I started writing articles about events at Hogwarts and stuff and submitting them to the Quibbler and the Prophet last March," she explained. "And I noticed that the articles that the Prophet likes to print tend to be those that have pretty negative view of Muggles, or Muggleborns, or Professor Dumbledore. I thought that was kinda weird, so I tried writing articles that played up that bias. They really liked those. Most recently, I tried submitting these two to see if

"Actually, I'll just go grab a drink and be right back, all right?" Nita asked, excusing herself to go get some tea -- not what she'd normally order in a pub, but if her last encounter with this student was anything to judge this one on, she was better off with something tame. And caffeinated.
"Okay," she said, settling down across from Ruth Ann to look at the articles. She raised her eyebrows at the false pretenses, but said nothing. This girl was awfully resourceful.
And made frighteningly accurate assessments. "Hmmm," Nita said, struggling to keep her face relatively blank as she looked at Ruth Ann's research. "Very interesting."
She looked up when the girl asked her a question directly. "Oh, yes, from time to time, anyway," she replied. "I read quite a bit more when I was in school, and obviously before Hogwarts, but yes. Why do you ask?"
"Because that's were all the information came from for those - the names of people and stuff, I mean. And the one I'm doing now. Well. Books and Doctor Who for the current one - I like the tenth Doctor! He's funny and he looks kinda like Rupert," she explained happily. "But no one said anything about my making up stuff, and they just ran 'em as completely true and everything. And the Prophet's never even bothered to check my age, which the Quibbler has - and it's supposed to be the one that prints fake stuff all the time! That's not right, not checking sources like that and printing stuff that's completely made up just 'cause you agree with it," she said angrily, glaring at the table. She'd started this as a simple revenge plot - but this was just... wrong! People were being told wrong information and they were believing it and no one was doing anything to see about stopping it!
