Wow - a progressive who gives as much value to liberty as equality - like me! I notice many of the others with the same label prefer equality to liberty. Interesting.

Perhaps we just don't like things to be easy? ;)

Honestly, in my mind I don't see how you can have one without the other. It reminds me of the (flawed) debate about privacy and security. Too many people consider them to mutually exclusive - that you have to take away from one to get more of the other. To me, they don't compete with, they complement, each other. The best solutions have both elements working in tandem. More than that, to quote, "you can't have one without the other".

Does that make sense? I don't think I've been awake long enough to be able to adequately assess my levels of comprehensibility!
