Which TV shows did you let go of in 2016?
Blindspot, Castle, Quantico, Reign (I watch way less TV now. Fairly certain this is a good thing but I can't say I'm actually more productive?)
Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2016? Why?
Poldark S2 and Luke Cage. But I have fic to write. I should also put Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in this category because it is literally sitting there next to my bed in freaking hardcover and I can't be bothered. It's the AU premise that's putting me off, I think, which is probably hypocritical. XD

Which TV show impressed you least in 2016?
HTGAWM.[possible spoiler (click to open)]They killed Wes. They could have killed Frank but they went with WES. WTFEVEN.
Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2017 unless things significantly improve?
HTGAWM. I'm not quite at rage-quit, but dude.
Which TV shows do you think you’ll never let go of no matter how crappy they get?
Grey's Anatomy. Still. After all this time. Also GoT.
Your favourite TV show of the year?
The Originals by sheer volume of fandom contribution, Pitch by the PRAYING IT WILL BE RENEWED PLEEEEEASE. Jane the Virgin and Grey's continue to delight. AoS has been getting better all season too- I’m loving Ghost Rider/Robbie Reyes and his arc with Daisy, plus YoyoMack is canon now, yeeeeahhhh. And Yoyo is getting her own online miniseries!

Kol Mikaelson, Maui and Anakin Skywalker, but also Mark Watney for sheer awesome.

MOANA. Davina Claire, Padme Amidala of the pre-RoTS and most especially not that goddamned novel version, Supernerd Beth Johanssen, GINNY BAKER, Amelia Sheperd and April Kepner as honorable mentions.
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
THEY BROUGHT BACK KOL FROM THE DEAD. And then Davina got to jump him. She was so thirsty IT WAS AWESOME.

ROGUE ONE, The Originals, GOTG 2
Your favourite film you watched this year?
The Martian and Moana. All the summer blockbusters didn't blockbuster me at all, although I really enjoyed Zootopia too.
Your favourite book read this year?
Andy Weir’s The Martian, Packing for Mars by Mary Roach (hilarious and informative!), Cheryl Strayed’s gorgeous Wild. It took me about 6 months to get through Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic even though it was good. Why we Love by Helen Fisher was also excellent.
Your favourite album or song to listen to this year?

From The Originals: Jill Andrews “Lost it all”, Ruelle “Deep End”, Gin Wigmore “I will love you”, Denmark & Winter “Don’t fear the Reaper”. Music from Pitch is brilliant too- Sia’s “Unstoppable” and The Score’s “Unstoppable” are both fantastic. I can’t seem to find the actual theme song by Black Violin on iTunes though. :(
As for albums: Ariana Grande My Everything, Selena Gomez For You and the Moana soundtrack.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
I fluffy hearts this Mindy Park centric fic so much. It is SO FUNNY and the characterization and details are perfect. It's also still being updated so the fun continues! I also love the structure of this Martian fic.
Really, the Martian fandom just impressed me SO MUCH. I mean, this is a paper an actual NASA Mission designer wrote about the Hermes and its hypothetical flight path (and engine) that pretty much wins any nerdery awards by default.
This Padme Amidala fic is surpassingly lovely and she's not even in it and yet her presence is so palpable it hurts.
Star Wars memes. How much does Anakin hate sand? TELL THAT TO KANJIKLUB. (Also ponchos.)
The fanboy butthurt over there being two female leads in a row for SW films was delicious. I was laughing until I realized these assholes probably helped Make America Great Again because they actualfax feel so fucking hard done by such evidence that their entrenched privilege is eroding.
The Emo Kylo Ren twitter account is still spot on, but much less productive now.
Mark Hamill is also a dad-joking gift.
This Moana smutfic is incredibly good. Yes, I’m totally judging myself.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
The first time I've ever rage-quit a book I spent good money on is Matthew Stover's RotS novelization. I'd heard lots of rave reviews of how it was a beautiful example of a second person narrative, so I bought it and...
His descriptions of Padme Amidala, who won an actual WAR for her planet as Queen and led the Opposition in the Senate in both AoTC and RotS, galled me so much that I actually dropped the book like it had burned me. For example:
"She was more now, than Anakin Skywalker's wife.
She is the mother of Anakin Skywalker's unborn child."
Like fuck you, fuck you so much dude. Like, she made shitty choices because she was in love: this is a completely plausible, human thing to do. What's NOT OKAY is that she no longer even sees herself as anything but an extension of her husband, she's "playing Senator" while he's been away for months fighting in the Clone Wars. WHY DO MALE WRITERS DO THIS. DOES THIS SOUND CONSISTENT WITH HER CHARACTERIZATION OR HOW ANY WOMAN YOU KNOW THINKS OF HERSELF? TRY HARDER AT FEMALE CHARACTERS, ASSHOLE.
Jon Snow/Sansa Stark getting told off by an astute and unimpressed Lyanna Mormont was awesome and then that dynamic got turned right around into fervent, blind support which was a total buzzkill.
Oh, and they killed two of my faves off The Originals in the same ep.
But really nothing can compare to half of AMERICA FUCKING ITSELF OVER FOR REAL.

Quantifying my fandom contributions for the year:
Fic: 34259 words so far. I’m still working on a gift fic and Rogue One will probably get A Third Path clawing at the inside of my head again so that number might creep up before Dec 31. I’m really proud of Newton’s First Law, actually- I like the structure and nitpicky details of it a lot. Plus I checked the timeline/flight path I sketched out with JPL’s Eyes on the Solar System (It’s a free app!) and I was off by a bit from Weir’s projected flightpath but minor edits made the fic still work! Smitten is getting the most attention though- pays off to post fic while a film is still in theaters, obviously.
Meta (not counting reaction posts): 5378 words.
GIFsets: 76! I still hate sharpening and capping because tedious AF but I think I'm pretty decent at GIFfing now. I actually had an Anakin set get over a thousand notes! But this Kolvina set is my fave creation, I think. Still way more like analysis than creation to me, and wow, people steal GIFs like crazy but art is art.
How was your year, f-list? I've only seen one of these up so far, would love to see more! :D
