Fashion Awards

Feb 28, 2011 16:43

So this is the morning post-Oscars. The award season of 2011 is over. What do you guys think of it? There were disappointments with the cheers, someone always has to lose when another wins. I'm her to concentrate on the fashion. And what a season of dresses it's been! There were bad ones, sure, but I'm going to feature my favorites because you don' ( Read more... )

Zomg I love this post and haven't looked at it yet. Aside from checking what Colin Firth has won each morning, I look at the red-carpet slideshows :D

Scroll, scroll up...

I still can't get over how sexy Mila Kunis is. I'm an avid Natalie Portman fan, but was v girl crushing on Mila throughout Black Swan as well.

So, mind twin, I know that we both love pretty things. It's embarrassingly mainstream of me to be flailing over the newest love/hate designers- but what do you think of Meadham Kirchoff?

My twin! What is going on? You haven't updated in over a month! *makes grabby hands*

She is sexy! I m so confused. On That 70's Show she was just this annoying teenager. Then I saw her in some movies and it was weird seeing her play grown-ups. And then in Forgetting Sarah Marshall she was so... sweet and real, and I thought "I need to watch out for her". But I had no idea, she really blew my mind in Black Swan, performance wise. And now I see her as a powerful person in real life, too. I like this new evolution of her. That's why I said I would have hated that dress on anyone else. It would have looked tacky on anyone else (really, all that lace? blah), but she makes it look sensual and elegant. Good for her ( ... )

I UPDATED! Whooo- was nice- it's always nice updating. It may be tragic but I plan to use LJ to give me some structure! That's seven shades of scary but aaah well :)

Did you know that Mila Kunis is alaos a BIG BIG GEEK? SHe plays games online and had to stop using her voice because people recognised it ;) I'm obsessed with the colour of that dress on her.

Practically and personally I think that Meadham Kirchoff's styling is horrid as well. The reason that I'm fawning over them a bit is for this one red dress that they did. I can't find a link to it, but it was divine. I also like their s/s line colour-wise. Neon seems like it is here to stay for at least a season and these guys sure had fun with it. Although to bounce back to our ONe True Mind Twin Meld, I'd rather have Jil Sanders' silhouette a la neon.

Do you like FLorence's dress because of the swan theme? Or that just adds to it? I admit I can't get past her hair which -together with Sandra on this pic- is just horribly sloppy to me. I don't think their postures help either

I'm not so sure about Cate's chest circle either but I definitely like the back of the dress. And she is class personified, no matter what.

Also, Mila's dress' top? To die for. =D

But then I'm no expert so please dismiss my comments. LOL

Hey, I don't take one opinion over the other if the title "expert" precedes it. It's all about personal taste:) I find dresses that are a bit quirky very beautiful. Florence's dress - there's something about the fabric texture, the detailing of the feathers, the soft color with the bright dash of orange - it's so beautiful to me. When I first saw it, right after "whoa, beautiful!" the next thought through my mind was "huh, first time someone pulled off swans." We all remember past red carpet disasters featuring swan-themed dresses:) And I like the hair, I like it a lot. I love those heavy bangs on most women, wish I could pull them off. I'm also very attracted to sculpted silhouettes. Everything that distorts or covers the natural human silhouette, I'm a fan. So that's where my taste lays ( ... )

I grew up with heavy bangs so I'm not against them by default, but as you love constructed dresses I love constructed hairdos - and for me, that's not it. It's so random, I can't see the thought behind it. Which probably isn't true, I don't think anyone goes to an award ceremony swearing in the limo all the way because they have no time left for their hair but... yeah, so I don't know.

And this coming from me who have messy curly hair, and my morning comb is five fingers. =D

I know what you mean by the worst dressed thing though. And I do like the swan dress, I'm just dissatisfied with the model; I believe she could do a lot better. But I don't think that sounds any better to you. LOL

And let's not forget, you're an artist and I'm not. :)

Cate Blanchett is so perfect and flawless. Every time I see her I have to think of that line in LotR '...all shall love me and despair'. So true.

Flawless! That's the word I was looking for. She's just... divine.
