If you've noticed any strange entries on your LJ, then those folks are joining me in wishing the late Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson a very happy 175th birthday!
There are lots of Lewis Carroll fans on my friends list, but I only noticed one or two Rabbit Hole Day entries. I didn't really do one because I'm just not very creative.
True, which is why I referred to him as the "late Reverend." :-)
However, considering that reaching 100 isn't nearly as unusual as it used to be, and there are a few peope who make it past 110, I figure that a century or so of additional research and technology might just get our grandchildren close to that age.
crystalgee made a similar comment--with my life, I didn't need it. And, re life expectancies, they're really closing in on how ageing works...my generation may well be the first to see life extension.
I think that LJ noted the day. I did a comment to lalaland earlier and when it posted the first sentence and the last sentence were there, but the paragraph in the middle was gone. It's either that or those meds that I've been taking for my head cold have really begun to take effect.
If you're referring to the poor dentist from the brilliant web comic Narbonic, created by our mutual friend Shaenon "Sarge" Garrity, then the answer is yes, sort of. I was honored by having that character named after me.
Thanks. It was awesome! Shaenon was kind enough to dedicate that strip (5 October 2000) where Dr. Noah crawls from the wreckage to me and my wife, and even kinder in letting us buy the original art from her. It's a cherished possession.

Just you wait.
I was starting to wonder if I was the only person noticing the event this year, though ...

Life extension is certainly compelling, and I would love if my children could be beneficiaries of it.
