It's Monday!
It was a busy weekend in the news, but relatively quiet at home (which was alright). Alas, the weather frightened us away from the Crawfish Festival, but we'll try to make it next year.
In other news, CNN/Money columnist Jeanne Sahadi suggests that Americans relax, and take that two-week vacation. I think she makes some good arguments, even though it's been several years since I've taken ten consecutive business days off. However, she doesn't make explicit (though she alludes to) the fact that many American full-time employees don't get much more than ten business days off, particularly when they're in the first couple of years of a job.
Better, I think, would be advising people on vacation to do what I do. Do not check your work email or voice mail, or bring work with you, when you're supposed to be on vacation. I always have my mobile, so I can always be reached in the event of an emergency. But I'm not calling in or signing on. :-)
