'Another' horse racing accident?

So according to the latest PI updates, bless those users for running there to react, Eight Belles - the only filly running in the Derby - broke both her front ankles after coming in second and was immediately euthanized

Ugh, yeah. =/ Animal racing in general is vile. About 50,000 greyhounds are put to death each year - not because of broken bones or anything, but because their racing careers are over (too slow, too old, whatever the case my be) and the owners simply don't want them any longer, since they are no longer making them any money. =/ People suck.

Yeah. There are about 2 deaths per dirt and per synthetic tracks for ever thousand races. It doesn't sound like a lot, but those are only the track fatalities. This says nothing, of course of the horses who are sent to die in a slaughterhouse at age, like, five

Yeeeah. Unfortunately since I live in Louisville it's practically our culture.
