A few people have asked exactly what I'm doing at work here at CERN. I also tend to get the question of 'what exactly does CERN do?' a lot. I'll try to give some answers for those who are interested without, I hope, boring everyone in the process.

Getting to church these days is really a hard thing to do. Getting down to Geneva in general is a pain. Yesterday I went down to Geneva with Matt and explored some of old-town which was cool, but it just takes a long time on the bus to get from CERN to Geneva (about 30-40 min). This last weekend I had two trips. The first was on Sunday and was a trip up the Jura mountains. This makes the third time I've climbed this peak (it is the closest to my house after all). The French way of doing business is just, well nuts. So I recieved my gas bill in the mail a month ago. Since it was the first bill of the month it had two sheets of paper in it. Reading (or translating via google) the leter there was a way to pay by putting your bank account number on the bill and they would deduct the appropriate amount from ( Read more... )

*does a happy internet dance* I finally have an internet connection at home. You know what that means? It means I can actually post pictures off of my camera, finally! So in accordance with that, I have my above post. But basicly, YAY INTERNETS!! Oh and that also will make me somewhat easier to talk to online as well.

Life has almost reach normality again. At a month and a half that isn't too bad I think. I'm finally moved into my apartment and I have furniture, a refridgerator, a bed (that isn't made of cardboard boxes) etc. I still need chairs (using my old cardboard box-bed currently) and an internet connection before everything falls into place.
