Sad and happy times with books...
Sad that Harbinger was the last in a series of four by Philippa Ballantine, but happy that she's writing e-books in the same world. Now I just have to go download it. Sad that I've already finished both Hunter and Fox and Kindred and Wings, also by Philippa Ballantine, but happily hopefully looking forward to more in the Shifted World series ( Read more... ) -

...so that I could spend the rest of the day doing nothing but reading Spectyr and Wrayth by Philippa Ballantine, to continue the story she started with Geist.

I love the library!
I've recently checked out a bunch of books from the library, which is really nice when there are things I want to read and can't decide if I want to buy them (new or used).
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman is funny, bittersweet, slightly scary, and distinctly baffling, brilliantly blurring the lines between ( Read more... ) -

Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn, is excellent writing. The construction of the story is good, I never felt like I wanted to pick up a red pen and mark it up, and the story & characters are interesting ( Read more... ) -
Books...books...books...and a movie or two...
We've finally seen The Heat and laughed a LOT. The language is a little overdone; I could have used fewer F-bombs but it wasn't horrible. Plus...Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock need to make more movies together. Soon. Like really soon. Like yearly.
We also, a month ago, saw Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing and LOVED it. It is definitely up ( Read more... ) -

What can I say that hasn’t probably been said about Paul Christopher? I’ve recently read five of his almost-eight (next is due October 2013) Templar series books.
