Actually, he was in Doctor Who before Goblet of Fire was released.

Okay... I saw him in 'Goblet of Fire' before I saw him play the Doctor, so for me it came first. Though I could've sworn I heard when they announced he was playing the Doctor that they said he'd been in HP. *shrugs* Bad memory, I guess.

The Doctor regenerated into Tennant before the film was out. It was Casanova that he was mainly known for when it was announced (well, leaked)
