tar Trek novels are basically the geeky equivalent of reading Romance novels most of the time.

that's an observation that I think can be extended to other tie-in novels as well.

I'd like to suggest a couple of other good Star Trek reads:
Doctors Orders
Prime Directive
Strangers from the Sky
All of them are really really good.

I read Strangers in the Sky years ago. It may need a re-read. As a matter of fact, Doctor's Orders is one of the two Trek books I am working on now. (My girlfriend laughs that I have a book that I am working on in almost every room in the house, and it is sadly true. I have three next to the bed and 1 in every room, each somewhere in the process of being read.)

The other one is Dark Victory.

I picked up Prime Directive a little bit back, so it is on the to-read shelf. I will bump it up in priority based on your suggestion.

I tend to carry my books around the house, but I usually have at least 3 that I'm working on at any one time. The kindle has cut down a bit on random books laying around the house.

I could never get past the description of Shatner's Trek novels, so I look forward to your review of that one.

I just posted my review of Dark Victory. The series is a fun read, though it reads more like Fanfic than the more "serious" Trek fiction.
