I've had a DivaCup for some time now and highly recommend it. If you don't like one kind you can always try a different one.

Yes. I used to use a Keeper, which worked for me somewhat, but am now experimenting with a DivaCup after reading that different kinds work better for different people. Last month, I used the Keeper for light days and the Diva for heavier, and they both worked pretty well. (That community's tips about putting it up much higher and putting it right over the cervix both seemed to make an awesome difference.)

I tried a DivaCup a while back and it didn't fit right for some reason. I think it may be that I wasn't getting it situated properly, but for now I am sticking to cloth pads and using tampons on heavy days.

If you use cloth pads at all for backup or anything, I would highly recommend the person I get mine from--her pads are awesome, with really cute fabrics, and she has a pretty fast turnaround. :)

I'd like to get some cloth pads for backup when I have a bit of cash and run out of my stash of disposables (hopefully the first will happen before the second). I'd love to hear your source sometime. Thanks in advance!

Huh, I guess I've just always been too nervous about a cup not fitting exactly right and spilling to try it (I'm a heavy bleeder) :/ If it works out for you again, I may have to try it over the weekends or something to test it out in a controlled environment...

I'm still using a liner or pad as a backup until I'm confident I can do it right, but so far, so good...

I've been using a cup for about 4 years now. I *was* a heavy bleeder too, I could go through a super tampon in less than 2 hours. However, now with the cup, I don't bleed that heavy. And even if I do, I've never leak!

I'm a heavy bleeder and tried twice to use my DivaCup. I am going to try again after losing some weight, because I have heard that it helps, but one of the most painful sensations I've ever experienced was the time my DivaCup got stuck---too far up for me to reach well with my tiny stubby fingers and break the seal, too far down not to be pressing my squishy bits against my cervical bone, and when I tried to pull down so I could break the seal a little easier my insides were like, "oh **** no, there's a vaccuum in here!"

I also got horrible diaper rash from regular maxi pads and wasn't able to use use a tampon alone w/o a pad; this month I switched to "lunapads" and it's been awesome. Almost no diaper rash though it's humid and hot up here in Boston which is generally when I got the worst rashes. I was worried it wouldn't be worth the investment (not cheap), but they are great and also relatively easy to clean.

Ouchie! If/when you decide to try it again, one of the other great tips I got from that community was "bearing down" to get the cup out. They said it's very much like the muscle motions one makes when peeing or pooping, and each time I've tried it, it has brought the cup down a bit (possibly just by bringing my whole cervix down a bit, but I'm happy as long as it works- I don't have to fully understand it).

In the meantime, I'm so glad the lunapads are working out for you!

PS- You know yourself best, absolutely, but there are a lot of plus-size women using cups on that community, too (myself included). It might be harder with more weight, but I'm pretty confident it can be done at just about any weight. And I mean that just a bit of encouragement should you decide to try again before losing weight, not as a chastisement or anything.

I've been using a Keeper for two years now, and I love it.
