Turns out it was bad after all. So, no patriarchy was at play in that incident. Which makes me happy, despite having to replace the battery.

Still I think that guy was pulling something. He just happened to be right.
I bet you got a new one cheaper than he wanted to charge you anyways.

You are correct. He had proposed about $120, and for $130, I got the battery and an oil change (which I also needed).
