Summary: Everybody knows how they first met. This is how Jongup first met Yongguk.
A/N: I did a thing.
When Daehyun told her that the club was a bit… rancid and different, she wasn't kidding. Jongup entered the club, with Junhong behind her.
"This is it?" Junhong asked, looking around the place.
It was noisy and loud and filled with cigarette smoke.
"Daehyun said this was the place. She said this was the place her ex-girlfriend used to hang out in," Jongup told her.
"Why are we spying on this Himchan chick? I hardly know her. And I hardly know Daehyun. All I know is that she's some girl you work with," Junhong told her.
They walked towards an empty stool where the bartender was serving drinks.
"To be honest, I have no idea either. I thought a change of pace would be good for us. Apparently not since this place actually scares me," Jongup said, looking around the room.
"It could be the fact that we're pop punk, not punk rock. We listen to bands like All Time Low, Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, etcetera, etcetera. These guys listen to bands like The Ramones or Joan Jett or The Runaways probably. I don't know. The fact is is that we don't belong here. What, with your bright blue pixie cut half shaven hair and my bright red hair that imitates Hayley Williams from Paramore perfectly. I suggest we get out of here before we start ordering drinks and pretend this never happened," Junhong stated.
Jongup sighed and looked around the room. It was true. They did stand out of place. Everything seems so dark, with bright colored hairstyles and an occasional colorful clothing. Meanwhile, her and Junhong were dressed so brightly that they looked like they stood out from the entire room.
"I agree. I just want to go home and sleep for the next three years and pretend this never happened," Jongup whispered, ready to get off the barstools.
"Can I help you ladies?" a voice asked.
Jongup froze and mentally cursed to herself that they should've left as soon as they entered the bar. Junhong and Jongup stared at each other.
"We'll both just take soju," Junhong answered.
Jongup didn't look up, but she knew that the bartender left. She looked up, and then back at Junhong.
"Well that's just great. We'll take one soju and then we're going to leave," Jongup whispered harshly.
Junhong was about to open her mouth to say something, but a bottle of soju was placed in front of her. Jongup finally looked up and saw a woman working behind the counter. She had bright pink hair that had a few pieces of hair tied in a pony tail, with a couple of blonde pieces in her hair, a lip ring, a nose ring, a couple of piercings in her ears, and bright red lipstick and thick eyeliner. She wore a Misfits tank top, but no jacket.
"Are you only going to order a soju and leave or will you ladies stay?" she asked.
Her voice sounded husky and deep, but was still noticeably feminine.
"I don't know. I guess we'll see," Jongup answered.
The girl looked unimpressed, but moved on and served someone else. She felt someone pushing her roughly and looked at Junhong.
"Are you fucking kidding me? You were practically out the door, but now all of a sudden you want to stay?" Junhong asked harshly.
Jongup opened her mouth to answer, until she felt someone wrapping their arms around their shoulders.
"Hey Jonguppie! I'm so glad you could make it," a familiar voice said.
Jongup looked at the person and saw it was Daehyun. Her pastel pink hair was slowly fading, but her clothes were a different story.
"You look like you're trying too hard to fit in," Jongup commented.
"Look, if I'm going to get Himchan back, I'm going to need to try hard to fit in. Hi, who are you?" Daehyun asked, looking at Junhong.
Junhong stared at her for a while. "I'm Junhong. I'm a friend of Jongup's."
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Junhong. I'm Daehyun. I work with Jongup at the restaurant," Daehyun introduced.
"Here's another soju for you two. Hey, Daehyun. I thought Himchan doesn't want you coming around here anymore," the bartender asked.
"Like she ever comes around here. I just… she didn't even explain to me why she dumped me. So unless I get a real reason that isn't 'it's complicated', then I'll leave her alone," Daehyun told her.
The bartender rolled her eyes and polished the counter tops.
"I'm gonna go find a table. Daehyun, do you want to help me?" Junhong asked her.
"Sure. Jongup, want to come with?" Daehyun asked her.
"I'll be fine. I'll just stay here," Jongup told her.
Daehyun and Junhong walked towards the middle of the bar in search for an empty table. Meanwhile, Jongup looked at the many alcoholic drinks on the shelves.
"What's a Smirnoff?" Jongup asked.
"It's pretty much vodka, but with added flavor. Want to try?" the bartender asked.
Jongup bit her lip and thought about it. "Sure. I'm feeling adventurous," she answered.
The bartender smiled lightly and took a bottle off the shelf and took out a shot glass. She poured one out for her and handed Jongup her shot.
"Drink up and tell me what you think," the bartender said.
Jongup noticed that her nails are painted almost a ruby color. She looked at the alcohol and quickly downed it. She felt the burning alcohol make her way down her throat. She tasted caramel.
"That's actually really good. Why does it taste like caramel?" Jongup asked her.
"Smirnoff is flavorful. I suggest you don't drink that much, though," the bartender answered.
Jongup smiled softly and looked at her soju.
"I'm Jongup, by the way," Jongup introduced.
"I'm Yongguk. Nice to meet you," the bartender - Yongguk - introduced.
She walked away and went to serve another customer. Jongup bit her lip and took a sip of her drink.
"Hey, Himchan isn't here today. I'm taking Junhong home. Do you want to come with?" Daehyun asked her.
"I'm fine. I'll stay here for a couple of more hours," Jongup said. "Besides, I took my car here. I need to get it back home somehow."
"Alright. Be careful, okay. I don't want you getting hurt," Daehyun told her.
"I'll be fine. Now go take Junhong home before she does something stupid," Jongup said.
Daehyun nodded her head and led Junhong towards the door. Jongup giggled when she saw Junhong nearly stumble, but successfully made it out the door.
"Your girlfriend?" Yongguk asked.
Jongup turned her head and looked at her. "Excuse me?"
"The girl Daehyun walked out with. Is she your girlfriend?" Yongguk repeated.
"Oh. Oh hell no. No, Junhong and I knew each other since middle school. Trust me, we are not dating," Jongup said, trying to stifle her giggles.
"So are you dating anyone?" Yongguk asked, cleaning a glass.
"Nah. I haven't found the right girl yet," Jongup said, looking at the almost empty bottle of soju.
"Do you want another one? Your friend practically downed hers like she hasn't drunken anything ever," Yongguk told her.
"Nah. I'll take some water. I'm driving home," Jongup told her.
Yongguk nodded her head and went to get a clean glass.
"You don't look like you belong here," Yongguk told her.
"I know. I'm more pop instead of rock," Jongup said.
Yongguk chuckled softly. "I can see that. You should come by more often. I like seeing new people around here," she said.
Jongup smile and bit her lip.
"Your smile is cute. You should always smile like that," Yongguk told her, handing her a glass of water.
Jongup blushed lightly and watched her walk away to serve the other patrons. Maybe it wasn't so bad coming here after all.
-----
Jongup entered the bar again and took her usual spot. She was becoming a regular here; the people here even greeted her and waved hello to her. They more extremely friendly than what Jongup thought of them before. She took her usual seat at the bar and waited patiently.
"Hey, Jonguppie," Yongguk greeted, cleaning one of the glasses.
Jongup's heart skipped a beat and smiled warmly at her. "Hey Yongguk. I'll take my usual please," she greeted.
Yongguk smiled softly at her and got out a clean glass for her to use to make Jongup's drink. Suddenly, a woman with short blonde hair and a cigarette between her fingers walked up to the bar and sat in the available seat, which was next to Jongup's.
"'ey Bang! My girls and I are waitin' for our drinks," the woman shouted. Her voice sounded raspy. She inhaled her cigarette and waited.
"I'm coming, Mae. Tell your girls to fucking wait," Yongguk said.
Mae rolled her eyes and let out the smoke through her nose. Jongup waited patiently and looked around the bar. She dyed her hair purple this time, but it was chopped off so that her hair can grow evenly this time.
"I know you. You're that pop punk girl that Yongguk is starting to like," Mae told her.
Jongup turned her head and looked at her. "Pardon?"
"What, you think you're so special because you got a bartender lookin' at you? Listen here, sweetie, you ain't shit to her. For all we know, you're just some girl that Bang is gonna fuck. She don't like you. So why don't you take your pretty little ass out of here and do us all a favor and stop comin' here. You're an embarrassment when you walk through those doors," Mae told her.
"That's not true. Yongguk is my friend," Jongup told her, trying to convince herself.
"Yeah, that's what they all say," Mae said, putting out her cigarette.
Jongup felt the tears brimming in her eyes and got up, making her way towards the exit. She wiped her cheek and let her tears fall.
Meanwhile, Yongguk say Jongup leave and approached Mae.
"What did you say to her?" Yongguk demanded.
"The truth. How you will have sex with someone if they're pretty and then drop them like flies," Mae told her, lighting up another cigarette.
"Listen, you don't know shit. Just because I slept with you doesn't mean anything. I fucked you because you were being clingy and annoying. You left the relationship before it even got anywhere. Stop pinning your damn failure on me you little bitch and leave me alone," Yongguk told her.
Mae stared at her with her mouth open as if she was about to say something, but closed it and left the bar and walked back to her friends. Himchan soon came up to her.
"Finally you told her something. I thought she would never leave you alone," Himchan said, handing a drink to one of the patrons.
"Can you man the stations? I need to talk to Jongup. She couldn't have gotten far," Yongguk said.
"You can count on me," Himchan said.
Yongguk nodded her head and quickly walked out of the bar and ran outside. She ran her fingers through her hair. Just great. The one girl she actually likes and Mae fucks it up for her. She ran towards her right and ran down the street. It didn't take her long. She saw a person sitting down against the building and had her head down. Yongguk walked up to the person.
"Jongup?" Yongguk called out.
"Go away," Jongup muttered.
Yongguk sighed and sat next to her. "Look, Mae's a bitch. She doesn't know what she's talking about."
"So it's not true that you sleep with anyone that's pretty? Or that I'm an embarrassment to your entire bar?" Jongup muttered out, picking her head up.
Yongguk noticed that he mascara and eyeliner was running down her cheeks, her cheeks were now a slight tinge of red.
"None of that is true. Everyone in that bar likes you. They love talking to you and conversing with you," Yongguk told her.
"But what about the you'll sleep with anyone pretty?" Jongup asked.
"That one is reworded wrong. I like a girl that makes me smile, that makes me happy to see them, that makes my shitty day at the bar worth coming in to work every now and then. Being pretty is just an added bonus," Yongguk explained.
Jongup looked down and stared at her converse shoes. She used her sleeve and wiped away the tears. She felt Yongguk's hand placed on her cheek. Jongup turned around and saw Yongguk's eyes staring at her.
"I don't know how to make my feelings any clearer, so this is the best I can do," Yongguk said.
Jongup was about to open her mouth and ask what she meant, but she felt a pair of lips against hers. She froze, but soon relaxed into her touch and kissed her back. Yongguk placed her hand on her hip and kissed her deeply. She tasted like cherries, Yongguk noted. Probably because of the cherry lip gloss on her lips. The two soon broke apart and Jongup bit her lip, trying to hide her smile.
"Don't hide that smile. It's the best quality of yours so far," Yongguk told her.
She giggled and laid her head on her chest. She heard Yongguk's heart beating against her chest. It was the sweetest sound she's heard so far.
