Who on earth decided that the layout of the number keys on a computer keyboard should be opposite of the arrangement of them on a touchtone phone?  And for those of you who are interested, the layout on credit card machines matches telephones and on calculators matches computer keyboards.  These are the things you notice when you constantly switch ( Read more... )

You dont know me I came by this by accident but for what its worth if your using a windows based PC you cxan try this link, of course if its a work PC it may not work or may make your IT folks a bit touchy

You can just blame engineers, but the link dmitriizhirov provided offers some decent theories. I'd also accept that answer that God(s) hate us. Bell Labs is indeed Satan, or someone saying "hey wouldn't it be funny if..." or "Hey, umm... Aren't those numbers backwards?" "That's a feature, not a design flaw."
