I miss you! Sorry I havent been on in awhile. My hard drive crashed and it made me crazy (plus I didnt have computer access). We need to hang out! I must hear Clara tales!
Hey, I saw you over at the pioneervalley group and was checking out your profile and see we are in some of the same communities - mind if I add you? :)
Also: How easy is it to become an art therapist in MA, and are there a lot of jobs? I am an ELA teacher but can't find a job out here (moved up from NYC last year) and now am at HEC to get a SPED license, but I have always been interested in creative therapy models ...
I have no idea how easy it is to get licensed in therapy, honestly. I'm only licensed in math right now, and will be enrolling in the HEC SPED program myself, this fall. I sort of fell into doing art therapy in the program i'm working in now, and work with a social worker to have underlying therapeutic themes, I provide and implement the crafting ideas, mostly-- which is totally awesome, but I kind of make it up on my own!
It does seem like there's a lot more interest than opportunity in art therapy right now, though-- I know more than one licensed art therapist working as a special ed teacher. Honestly, to me it seems like something to study because you're interested, not because you expect a job to come of it.
