The thing that's the most disturbing is that just as the US and other wealthy nations in the west start to do something about our emissions the Chinese and Indians start industrializing and burning all sorts of oil and coal using the dirtiest and cheapest technologies out there and moving their economies in an automobile related direction negating whatever good we have accomplished in the last few years in trying to come to terms with this mess.

I'm so glad I'm old! I remember sitting on the nude beach out on Fire Island in 1985 when the population hit 5 billion and thinking how fucked up that was! Back in the 60's we all were calling for zero population growth and now we have a projected population of 9 billion people only some 90 years later! We accept our teenage children having babies and have totally given up on any real kind of birth control education because of these religious morons and are starting to wallow in the filth of the human race and these fools go on about god .It's no different now than it was a thousand years ago! We're fucked . It's going to be real ugly when nature finally decides to make a correction and nature will make a correction. That is the one given here.Nature always comes out on top and the human race in the end is nothing more than another one of natures experiments that's gone bad.

I agree with you on this; you know I've expressed
similar sentiments along that line.

Scientists say that the Earth is able to accomodate
3 billion souls, we now have just over twice that amount!

Also, if I were the Earth, I'd be pissed at how badly the humans here have treated me!

Yeah, nature will set it right - there'll be some
payback - and payback's a bitch!
