Government has proved itself to be an inefficient means to provide services at a reasonable cost to the taxpayers so this comes as no surprise . California,New York,or anywhere else it's the same. Drive down the road and take a good look as you pass the road crew .There will be 6 guys standing around talking and one guy with a shovel or some other tool.Government employment it seems is for the lazy and the freeloaders who would otherwise be on welfare.

Oh, I think that is largely a myth perpetrated by Reagan and the right, an outgrowth of Nixon and Watergate. Besides, we are the government, we have the power to change it.

It's no myth at all. I have quite a few friends who are civil servants and they are the laziest people I have ever met. This one was a cop in an incorporated village. He knew when anybody was out of town and used to request the midnight to 8 am shift so he could sleep in his patrol car in the drivways of these people who were not home! He'd bring an alarm clock and leave his radio on .The guy retired at 45 after doing his 20 years and has milked the inc village for 3/4 pay and full health care bennies for him and his wife for the past 20 years.I have another one who is a transit worker in the subway system in NYC. If they do 3 hours a day of actual work they are being really productive. My next door neighbor where I lived about 20 years ago was a sanitation worker in the city.He worked no more than 3 hours per day and also retired at an early age collecting 3/4 pay and bennies. Shall I continue!
