Forewarning, I'm a big Rodney fan so my Atlantis viewing tends to focus on how his character is being treated/written.YAY, some one who sees the show like me. This was not a very good Rodney ep, although there were some very cute moments. I too, choose to see Rodney taking Ronon's painting for sentimental reasons. Although the writers used the words "helped himself," like he just goes around taking things. I thought that was odd, especially coming from Teyla. But I did love the concern between the two of them earlier in the Wraith lair. Speaking of that - am I the only one who thinks the writers made Rodney look cowardly and acquiescent here. I mean he gets he door open, just like John asked him to do, then he sees John stunned and lying there and the next scene the Wraith come and drag John and Teyla away. What is Rodney doing? Hiding? or is that just my perception. I know, maybe he's just waiting until he can go for help, but something about that didn't sit well with me, especially when, explaining to John in the cell, he
( ... )
That scene where Rodney hides threw me for a bit too, it just didn't feel right, but then I thought he didn't run screaming or just stand there, he kept it together enough to find a place to hide, so he would be able to go back and get help, at least that's the way I'm choosing to see that scene.
That being said, did you notice that they seemed to write Rodney as trying to run away but when Ronon went back to Atlantis it was written as Ronon going for help, possibly heroic?
The writers seem to have a very conflicted view of Rodney, brave or selfish, lecherous or respectful, etc... Is it that they can't make up their minds or that they are using his character to further some story line without seeing how they are writing him?
I can't remember but I think the only person, in the past, who has hugged Ronon is Rodney?
I hear there are some good character episodes this season and David Hewlett seemed to be enjoying the stuff he was doing so maybe there'll be some good eps later.

Exactly. Rodney's was an "es-- strategically planned retreat" but I guess since the ep was Ronon centric, he needed to be the hero.
I agree about the writers, they use Rodney for all kinds of ways to fit the story line, but they obviously can't see that their writing is inconsistent. And I'm not sure DH is one to complain about how his character is handled - he's too happy to be working. But yes, from DH's Twitter posts this season, it really does sound like some of the episodes are going to be good ones. Even though a lot of people are talking about "Doppleganger" (which I've seen) I'm kind of looking forward to "Harmony" which, from the sound of it, is a John/Rodney centered ep. *crosses fingers with you*
