This whole silly comic book thing.

Here is my thoughts on the whole matter.  ....

Yeah..that's about it.

Ok...I will do better that.  Comic books have long had these "unrealistic" drawings of the human physique.  That is part of what makes them so interesting.  "Super" hero's really shouldn't look like "the average joe or jane".  And of course they are drawn to their audience.  It ( Read more... )

No, my post was not directed at the discussion between you and M. I do in fact read both of your LJ's as you are both my friends.

I have spent a fair amount of time throughout my life, defending comic books, from religious zealots, "high-brow's" who refused to see any art or even anything of value within them. I have heard feminist argue against them and more.

I do believe for many men and women, it is truly an issue of self-image. By self-image I mean not just looks, but feelings of personal self-worth. How they stack up in the big picture, etc etc.

People who are truly at peace with themselves, and allow happiness into their lives, rarely complain about others.

It is human nature to tear down others strengths and achievements to make up for our own lack of the same. I believe personally, (and we all know what opinions are worth) that if we were to really delve deeply into the world of "political correctness" we will find that same root of jealousy and self-doubt that has spawned so many of the worst things in humanity
