My copy of Tom Waits' "Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards" arrived today! Yep, 3 discs (56 songs) will keep my ears occupied for a while.

Orphans is REALLY fantastic. I think it's the best introduction to Waits' sound, that is if you were trying to introduce someone to him.

It is very good, I won't deny you that and I'm sure I will reap much enjoyment from the set. However, I can't help but feel that his earlier albums are what keep me hooked on his work ("Closing Time" through "Frank's Wild Years"). Heart of Saturday Night, Blue Valentine, Foreign Affair...that's hard to beat.
