I'm intrigued by the idea of major rewrites. *g* I tend to map the whole story out in my head first and then write from start to finish, editing as I go. So there is never much of an alteration between first and final draft.
Are you a non-linear writer, or a 'get everything on the page and go back later to tidy up' one?
I'm generally a very non-linear writer, and I usually do what you do and edit as I go, but because I'd never done something so long on a deadline before, I wanted to write this one from start to finish, so there were some parts that I knew would have to be rewritten, but I just pushed past them, if that makes sense. And then when I got to the end, I thought about a few little conversation threads that I'd like to tie into the story as well.
In all honestly, I'm wibbling like crazy over this story. Straight up romance is definitely not my forte, and I'm a little worried that it's really weak.
*nods* I tend to go back and tweak the dialogue etc if something comes to me. But the actual plot is always worked out, and the research done, before I start writing.
I know people who are very non-linear writers and it sounds like putting a jigsaw puzzle together! I never was very good at jigsaws. *g*

*hugs* I'm always amazed at people who can string together a coherent romance, because I'm definitely an action girl. *nods*
Ummmm... I've finally started my fic? 4000 words so far, should be over 5000 by the end of the weekend and hopefully finished by the due date. *crosses fingers*
