Lying
"Hey, Reeves, are you all right?" Colby looked concerned when she entered the bullpen and sank into the chair at her desk. "You don't look so hot right now."

"I see now why the ladies swoon at your feet, Granger," she snarked, straightening up and flashing him a smirk. "You're such a smooth-talker."

He laughed, his hand briefly resting on her shoulder and squeezing gently. "I'm just concerned, Reeves, that's all."

She patted his hand, and then pushed it off her shoulder. "I'm fine, Granger. Thank you for your concern, but you don't need to worry about me."

"All right, just saying." He wandered back to his desk, watching Megan out of the corner of his eye as she booted up her computer.

A few minutes later, Colby was too absorbed in the file he was reading to notice Megan rising from her chair and hurrying to the bathroom.

David, however, noticed Megan's return from the aforementioned bathroom. "Hey, Megan, you're looking a little pale today."

"I'm always pale, David." She didn't look away from her computer screen as she brought up various files and began to read.

He shook his black head, exchanging a look with Colby. "I meant pale for a white chick."

"It's your imagination," she retorted shortly, clicking the print icon and turning away from her desk as her printer started spitting out pages. "Excuse me, Gentlemen. I have reading to do."

The two men stood and watched Megan head to the break room, where Don was fixing coffee for himself. "Do you think I'm imagining things?"

"Nah. She just doesn't want to admit that such a tough girl can be brought down by a common cold." Colby grinned at David and returned to his work.

Chuckling, David did the same.

In the break room, Don watched out of the corner of his eye as Megan prepared herself a cup of tea, adding liberal amounts of honey and lemon. Quietly, his eyes focused on his coffee, Don commented, "You look as if you could use a day off."

"Not you, too!" she exclaimed, turning to glare at Don. "How many times am I going to repeat myself today? I'm fine!"

He held up his hands in mock surrender, offering an apologetic smile. "All right, all right, but please don't hesitate to ask if you really need a day off."

"You'll be the first to know." She glared at him and left the break room with her tea. Don sipped his coffee as he watched her retrieve some papers from her printer and go into the conference room. Lounging in one of the oversized chairs, she began to read through the papers.

"Oh, hey, Megan! How are you?" Amita greeted the FBI agent with a smile later that day.

The agent in question offered a strained smile. "I'm fine, Amita. Do you know where Charlie is? He's not in his office."

"He might be working on something with Dr. Galuski," Amita replied, giving Megan a strange look. "Are you sure you're fine?"

Stifling a sigh, Megan nodded. "Yes, I'm sure. Thank you."

"You're welcome." Amita watched the agent leave, wondering if she'd just been lying through her teeth.

"All right! It worked." Ray grinned and gave Charlie a high five. "Thanks, man."

The smaller man grinned, subtly shaking his hand out at his side. "No problem. It was fun to help you out with this."

"Yeah, well, you're better at crunching the numbers than I am." Ray tapped a few keys on the keyboard and the printer in the corner started whirring.

Charlie laughed self-consciously, turning to the door of the lab. "Megan! What brings you here?"

"The FBI has some numbers for you to crunch, too, Dr. Eppes." She offered him a file folder and a wry smile. "I hope that's all right with you."

The math professor scoffed, accepting the folder. "It's always all right with me. You should know that by now."

"Anything with numbers for the math professor here," Ray offered with a chuckle, shuffling papers together in his hands, glancing at Megan out of the corner of his eye. She offered him a polite smile, but nothing more.

Charlie nodded absently and waved vaguely in Ray's direction as he and Megan left the lab together. "You think you can do something with those?"

"Yeah, I think so, especially if I can get Amita to help me out." Charlie looked up at Megan with a confident smile. Then he blinked and looked more closely at her. "Hey, should you be working today?"

She folded her arms across her chest, giving Charlie a Look. "I'll tell you what I've told everyone else today: I'm fine."

"Fair enough." He held up his hands and smiled apologetically. "Just keep in mind that we ask because we care."

Megan nodded, looking a little sheepish. "Yeah, I know."

"Hey, Charlie!" Alan's voice distracted them from their conversation. Turning around, they spotted him walking towards them across the lawn, a backpack slung over one shoulder.

Charlie grinned when Alan finally reached them. "Hey, Dad. What's up?"

"Do you know where Dr. Galuski is?" Alan asked, glancing from Charlie to Megan and back again. "I have a question to ask him."

She glanced behind them and gestured. "Perhaps right behind us?"

They turned to find the engineering professor standing about a dozen feet away, looking as if he was admiring the trees nearby. Alan turned to Megan with a relieved smile. "Thanks, Megan."

"You're welcome, Alan." She smiled warmly.

He peered at her closely. "Are you feeling all right?"

"I'm fine, thank you for asking." There was some strain in her voice when she answered.

Alan nodded, holding up a hand. "Let me know if I can do anything for you."

"I will, I promise." Megan and Charlie watched Alan turn to join Ray, pulling a textbook out of his backpack.

Charlie and Megan were forced to stifle their laughter at the expression on Ray's face. Together, they turned and continued on to Charlie's office.

When Larry returned home that evening, he found Megan stretched out on the couch, wearing her cowgirl pajamas, her bare feet draped over the arm and a warm washcloth covering her eyes. "Hey, Megan."

"Hey, Larry." She peeled up the washcloth to offer him a wan smile. "How was your day?"

He sat down on the edge of the couch and leaned forward to kiss her softly. "Better now that I'm home with you."

"You sure know how to talk to a girl." She reached up to stroke Larry's cheek.

He smiled, turning his head to kiss her palm. "How was your day?"

"I hated lying to everyone," she admitted with a sigh. "They've been noticing that something's not right about me."

Larry smiled sympathetically, resting his hand on her stomach. "We don't have to keep it a secret, you know."

"I know, but I want to wait at least a few more days." Megan covered Larry's hand with hers, twining their fingers together.

He nodded, squeezing her hand gently. "If you think you can keep lying…"

"Yes, I think so." She smiled, sitting up so she could kiss him properly.

He returned the kiss, still a little shy despite the months they'd been together. He whispered softly against her lips. "I love you."

"I love you, too," she whispered back.

He smiled. "And our wormwhole."

"Our wormhole, too, yes."
