Phew. They've gone. All of them. I love them dearly, but they thoroughly exhaust me. They always have done, but now even more so. Tears in parting, "don't go before me" are my Dad's last words to me on his way out. Real morale-boosting stuff. Number4son was slightly more philosophic about the whole thing. i like that brotherly advice "going to hurt like shit then you'll get over it" much more optimistic than don't go before me...

i love the office! it's fantastic. don't think i've seen much of the league except a tiny bit on bbc prime when we had access to it and it didn't hook me in at all.

"The Office" I always thought would have made an excellent one-off play, along the lines of "Abigail's Party". It depicted an environment that everyone could relate to, and then put this perfectly-realised and cringe-makingly recognisable character into it. As a series, though, it didn't work for me, there wasn't enough 'new' humour in each episode. Compare and contrast with Fawlty Towers, where it was clearly understood that just having comic characters was not enough, every episode had to have a comic plot as well ( ... )

I guess I'm living on a different timescale. I find the rhythm and timing in "The Office" just about perfect. Those gaps of quiet suspended animation several times per working day serve to accentuate the ridiculous. Adds to the authenticity for me.

I've not been back to "The League", but I suspect you are right about the prepubescent humour. Of course, as I'm really only fourteen at heart, it may yet appeal to me!
