How do you get your orchids to flower? I buy mine flowering, then the flowers drop off, and I end up with 2 bare sticks for months until they die too...

Dammit, I can grow anything else... My orange tree is growing like crazy, teensy thing and has 10 oranges on it, but orchids... nope.

Help, pls, O Wise And Ancient One!

; )

Well, Grassbouncer, I'm not sure that you are ready to receive such ancient and mysterious wisdom.

However, because it's you, I'll tell you. I buy mine flowering, then the flowers drop off, and I end up with 2 bare sticks for months until they die too...

Are you sure you can handle it?

;-)

[unprintable]

I knew I should have bought a new one earlier...

Why do we even bother with the damn things here?

At least this one was a present. Which is, of course, why I worry about it dying.

Well don't give up yet. There's many a folk who do succeed in this fair ville. I'm trying to follow their advice (which unfortunately changes from one visitor to the next). Basically, water only once per week with half a glass of tepid water. Sacrifice the Cat of Doom. Lots of sunlight, but not direct. Water vapour lightly every day. Sacrifice three Birds of Doom. When flowers drop off, prune to the third eye above the planting material. Sacrifice the Hound of Doom. Continue the water/mist regime even after pruning. In theory they should flower thrice per year.
