A/N: Sequel to
Bet On It As Donghae floated into consciousness, he became aware of a fuzzy, pale face hovering above his.
“Eunhyuk,” he gasped. “Hyukjae.”
“Shh,” shushed Pale Face. Donghae felt a small, warm hand closing his eyelids. “Sleep.”
Donghae obeyed.
-
“Earth to Fishy,” a familiar voice cooed.
“Actually, it should be ocean to Fishy; he would die on land,” corrected a second voice.
“Technicalities are for engineers.”
“…”
“You’re not an engineer, Kyu.”
“Well, I could’ve been.”
Donghae forced his heavy eyelids to open. Blinking at the bright lights, he took in his surroundings. It was a small but comfortable room, on the second floor, judging by the view from the window. The bed was big enough for two, and the blankets oddly had two very recognizable scents.
“I think he’s awake.”
Donghae turned his head painfully towards the voice. Sungmin’s concerned face came into view, followed by Kyuhyun’s.
“Water,” croaked Donghae. Sungmin reached out to help him sit up as Kyuhyun disappeared out of the door.
“Watch it,” Sungmin warned. “I think two of your ribs are broken.” Kyuhyun returned with a glass and handed it silently to Donghae, who drank it gratefully.
“We found you on our doorstep this morning,” Sungmin informed him once he finished drinking. “Your wounds were already tended to.”
“Care to tell us what happened?” Kyuhyun spoke up at last.
Donghae looked at his two friends. Should he tell them the truth? “I was in an alleyway.”
“What were you doing in an alleyway?” demanded Kyuhyun.
Donghae hesitated. “I was about to go into a club,” he said, choosing not to mention the fact that it was an illegal fight club.
“Club?” Kyuhyun’s expression darkened. “With alcohol?” Sungmin put a restraining hand on his shoulder and gestured for Donghae to continue.
“I decided not to go in though,” Donghae reassured Kyuhyun. “I was about to leave when these two guys stopped me and beat me up.”
Kyuhyun nodded, mollified. “You need to be more careful.”
“Kyuhyun,” Sungmin cut in. “Can you go get another ice pack?” Kyuhyun raised his eyebrow, but complied.
“So,” said Sungmin once Kyuhyun was out of earshot. “Kyuhyun might buy that, but I don’t. You’re not telling us the entire thing.” Donghae looked warily at the martial artist. “What’s really going on, Donghae?”
Donghae mentally weighed his options. He could lie, withhold the truth like he had been for the past five years. But…Donghae glanced up at Sungmin’s determined eyes. At what cost? Sungmin and Kyuhyun were already at the end of their line with him (and it was a miracle they held on for so long).
Donghae waited until Kyuhyun returned to the room before speaking. “Alright. I’ll tell you what happened.”
-
“Thank you.”
Ryeowook, in the middle of polishing a glass, glanced up at Donghae, startled. “What?”
“Thank you,” repeated Donghae, feeling slightly bashful. “Thank you for taking care of my injuries the other night.”
Ryeowook shrugged, setting the glass down to pick up another one. “Yesung was the one who found you there. And he took you to your friends.”
“Still, thanks.”
Ryeowook nodded briskly. Donghae watched as he moved all the glasses to their proper position, wondering why he never bothered getting to know the bartender.
“You called out for someone,” Ryeowook said, abruptly pulling Donghae from his musings. “When you were sleeping.”
“I did?”
“Eunhyuk.”
Donghae’s ribs ached at the mention of the name. “Oh.” He tried to keep his expression neutral.
“I don’t know if I should be telling you this, but sometimes Eunhyuk comes in here.” Ryeowook scrutinized Donghae. “He never bets on anyone, but you.”
Donghae’s eyes widened. This meant Ryeowook had information about Eunhyuk during the past few years. Before Donghae could ask further, Yesung appeared out of nowhere.
Leaning over the counter, Yesung pecked Ryeowook on the lips before turning to Donghae. “You look less crappy than the last time I saw you. Ryeowook patched you up pretty good, huh? How are you feeling?”
“Better,” replied Donghae.
-
Kyuhyun scooted away from Donghae, fixing him an evil eye.
“Are you still sulking?” asked Donghae, offering Kyuhyun his coffee cup. “But I come bearing gifts.”
Kyuhyun took the steaming mug grudgingly. “I still can’t believe you never told me,” he complained. “I’m your partner; you’re supposed to trust me.”
“I wasn’t sure how you would react,” Donghae apologized.
Kyuhyun made a resentful noise. “It’s not like I would turn you in even though you did allow the underground gambling kingpins to escape.” He pointed to a manila folder sitting on their desk. “We have a new case.”
Donghae took the folder, flipping through the contents. “Leeteuk-hyung is good at finding gambling rings.”
“Do you think…he will be there?”
Donghae glanced up at his hesitant partner. “I know he will be,” Donghae said firmly.
-
Donghae almost apathetically revealed his cards, expression unchanging as he won another round. The dealer gathered the cards, preparing for a new round.
“Deal me in.”
Donghae choked as the very man he was looking for slid into the seat across from his. Eunhyuk didn’t even bother raising his head to acknowledge Donghae’s presence.
Donghae told himself that it had nothing to do with the redhead’s (freshly dyed, Donghae noted) presence. It was just a coincidence that he was completely trashed that night at a game he had been dominating for the past few years.
-
Donghae chased after Eunhyuk (no surprise there) as the red head disappeared through a door right after the game. Donghae caught the door before it fully closed and entered the room. Before he could get a good look around, he was shoved against the door.
“Eunhyuk,” Donghae breathed.
Full lips curled up into a trademark smirk. “It’s been a while,” Eunhyuk sneered. “Miss me?” His mouth crashed on Donghae’s, teeth clashing and tongues battling for dominance.
“Wait,” gasped Donghae, pulling away. “We need to talk.”
“About what?” demanded Eunhyuk, fingers making quick work of Donghae’s clothes.
“Our relationship,” replied Donghae, trying to concentrate as Eunhyuk started stripping.
“I thought you made it pretty clear there was nothing going on between us when you betrayed me,” Eunhyuk mocked, pressing his bare hips against Donghae’s and grinding down.
Donghae snapped and he reversed their position, slamming Eunhyuk against the door. Eunhyuk’s smirk widened, obviously enjoying the effect he had on Donghae. Donghae recaptured Eunhyuk’s lips for a passionate kiss. Running his tongue in a trail down the white neck, Donghae chose a spot and bit down, drawing blood and eliciting a delicious gasp from the redhead.
“I never betrayed you,” Donghae whispered fiercely.
-
Donghae woke up in a very uncomfortable position. As he made to rub the remnants of sleep from his eyes, he realized why: his hands were handcuffed to a bed.
Raising himself uncomfortably, he barely managed to touch his miraculously in place earpiece. “Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun!”
There was some static and rustling on the other end. “What?” Kyuhyun voice finally said sleepily.
“Where are you?”
There was an unmistakable sound of a yawn. “In Sungmin’s car, in the parking lot, where we were waiting for you last night. Hey, thanks for leaving us out here all night.”
“Sorry. Can you come get me?” Donghae’s eyes darted around the room. “I’m handcuffed to the bed in one of the rooms.”
“I told you he likes kinky stuff,” Kyuhyun’s muffled voice addressed someone else.
“He’s okay with handcuffs, but not voyeurism?” came Sungmin’s tiny voice.
Donghae tuned out and pulled himself into a more comfortable sitting position. The bed was cold, indicating that Eunhyuk had been gone for some time. Donghae sighed.
The door opened and a very disheveled Kyuhyun stumbled in, followed by a not much more tidy Sungmin.
“What happened to you two?” asked Donghae as Sungmin rifled through Donghae’s abandoned pants in search for the keys.
Sungmin emerged triumphant, unlocking Donghae. “You earpiece was on,” he informed him.
Donghae accepted the pile of clothes Kyuhyun handed him and pulled them on quickly. “Of course it was. We were on surveillance,” he said, trailing the pair out of the empty building to the car.
Kyuhyun coughed as they all piled in. “He meant your earpiece was on the entire time.”
Donghae’s jaw dropped as he registered the implication of their words. “You mean-”
“Yup,” said Sungmin starting the engine. “We heard every pant, gasp, moan…”
Donghae turned beet red. “Hyung!” he protested.
“I think the best parts were the screams of ‘Harder, Donghae, oh god, more!’” Sungmin continued. “That really turned Kyuhyun on. He practically jumped on me. How unprofessional of him.”
“Hey,” growled Kyuhyun.
“Sorry.” Sungmin reached over and patted Kyuhyun’s butt. “At least you can still walk.”
“Where did Eunhyuk go?” asked Kyuhyun, swatting Sungmin’s hand away.
Donghae stared at his wrists. The scars had returned to their former scarlet color due to the handcuffs. “I don’t know.”
-
“What are you going to do now?” Kyuhyun asked.
Donghae frowned. “What do you mean?”
Kyuhyun tapped a pen on the desk. “It’s been two weeks of surveillance, and he still hasn’t shown up again.”
Donghae bit his lip. “He will,” he insisted. “Sooner or later, he will. He’ll want to get the last word.”
Kyuhyun raised his eyebrow. “Handcuffing you to the bed naked wasn’t the last word?”
-
“I have a plan,” Donghae announced.
Kyuhyun paused in the middle of his game. “This doesn’t bode well.”
Donghae smacked his partner’s arm. “You’re going to help me.”
Kyuhyun turned his eyes heavenward. “Shisus, have mercy.”

A/N: So I was about to post on the 19th in an effort to make a pretty pattern on my calender. But then I realized that I would have to post on the 20th, 24th, and 29th also in order to complete the pattern so I gave up on that. 'Tis pity, pity 'tis.
BTW, are there any Dalmates out there? :D
